I only saw menus in the trailer and screenshots. So I'm guessing this is a menu game and not a space exploration game like Endless Sky.

This is not a criticism, I'm glad someone's taken the time and care to resurrect an old classic... I just can't remember what the old classic was called. It feels remarkably similar. You get one screen for each planet, with the six different buttons, even laid out in a similar fashion. Developer, what was your biggest inspiration, let me ask it that way, because the answer to that question has to be the answer to mine....

For those of you who have issues getting the game to run with the right resolution despite setting destop size to 1024x768 make sure you are running windows fontz at 100% size and not 150 or 200. if you do run at a higher windows font size the resolution ingame will crap up for some odd reason (or at least it did for me, on nvidia 980) so if you got issues, at least check and make sure you run with normal size windows fonts ;)...
