Update 1.6.0

For the first time in many years, we are doing an update of World to the West for pc, mac and linux.
We have rounded up the improvements that were previously made for the Nintendo Switch and added a sidebar that links to news and other games from Rain. The sidebar is visible in the main menu only, like it also will be in our other games. Finally, we've also added graphics and mapping support for DualSense gamepads on windows.

Added the Rain sidebar
Added graphics and default mapping of the DualsSense controller on Windows machines
Made magnets instantly reset Lumina's blink
Extra chest added to the magnet mayhem puzzle
Teri now plays an animation when she picks up a key
When you back out of the achievement view when a card is about to turn, but haven't turned, that card should turn again when you return
Cleaned up the orphanage
General performance improvements
Reduced texture sizes appropriately for many textures
Tuned screen shake in some scenes
Fixed error when Knaus was being chased by a chipmunk when entering a hole

More performant water lilys
Made the loading animation bigger on UHD display resolutions
Improved the implementation of shadows and Anti-Aliasing
Fixed ice skating creating a lot of garbage in the background
Fixed some instances of ending up under water when crossing between scenes while ice skating

Read the Girl Genius Comics Within a Video Game with “Girl Genius: Adventures in Castle Heterodyne”

The Kickstarter for Girl Genius: Adventures in Castle Heterodyne is a new and exciting avenue for the Girl Genius comics and Studio Foglio. However, this isn’t just because the universe will be expanding to video games.

A new announcement from Rain Games has confirmed that If the Kickstarter for the video game is successful, players will also be able to dive deeper into the universe through a built-in comics reader in-game, including the entirety of the Girl Genius comics, for free.

Normally the comics for Girl Genius can be read physically or through a reader on the Girl Genius website, but this new video game feature allows for reading in-game on multiple platforms and devices.

So far “Girl Genius: Adventures in Castle Heterodyne” has only been confirmed for Nintendo Switch and PC, however, Kenneth from Rain Games says, “PC and Nintendo Switch will be our priority if the Kickstarter is successful, however It’s unlikely that we’ll stop there as Rain Games tend to release on as many platforms as possible”.

The comics reader will be provided through a partnership with InkyPen, a company who have created a subscription based all-you-can-read comic and manga service on Nintendo Switch. The reader will also come with a ton of features included in InkyPen that allow for different reading experiences such as:

- Horizontal and Vertical ReadingToggles
- Scroll Mode and Snap Mode toggles
- Zooming
- Touch control (for applicable devices)
