I shot a deer and it died.

This game has a terrible success rate of hunting for beginners! I cannot even hunt and kill a target despite aiming for it's vital organs. A gun scope and a head shot does not help solve the situation, Instead the game just tells me the bleed rate is very low and target runs away.

Buddy had issues connecting to a bunch of servers, I didnt believe him, joined a server, moved 10m and then game crashed. Debating on asking support for a refund

In the lush Layton Lake District, I found the beauty of playing theHunter: Call of the Wild. The beauty of this game is not in the required patience. It is not in the ocean of paid DLCs. It isn't a matter of killing a bear, harvesting an elk, or stalking a deer. No, the beauty of this game is in the immersive experience it offers.

My first real kill was a black bear. I had just loaded in, expecting your average FPS hunting game, when I saw it. The beast stood on two legs and stared into my soul. I panicked. I panicked and then I shot it. I hit the bear in the heart, luckily enough, causing it to die on impact. If it had chased me, I probably would've never put 100+ hours into this game. Instead, I would probably be six feet underground, dead due to a heart attack.

At times, this game is terrifying. Your heart starts to race when you hear a wolf howl nearby, unsure of how many you are about to face. The moose calls are horrific--far worse than any noise a bear is capable of producing. Or maybe I just have anxiety. Who knows?

At other times, and sometimes at the same time, this game is beautiful. The rain drips down your face as you steady yourself to take a shot. The wind rustles the trees as you try to determine which direction to approach from. Thanks to the small details, this game is an experience you don't want to miss out on.

Only a few cons come to my mind when thinking about this game. Some of the DLC should be in the base game. For example, ATVs. These maps are gorgeous, yes, but they are also huge and difficult to navigate. Another example of a "required" DLC would be the tents. I put 50 or so hours into this game without DLC. Don't even try that. There are some bugs that pop up, which is to be expected...but these bugs can take weeks to be fixed, which is NOT to be expected.

Overall, though, I'd rate theHunter: Call of the Wild 8/10 for its environment, atmosphere, and money-starved devs.
