We hope you’re all counting down the hours until the Planet Coaster Beta starts - it’s only a few days away now, and we know we’ve been hyping you up with the social media countdown images and our upcoming Beta developer livestream tonight at 7PM GMT. However, before we jump into Beta on Wednesday, we do have some important information about your Planet Coaster Alpha game today.

As we’ve mentioned before in the Steam Workshop update[forums.planetcoaster.com], your Alpha game version is a separate Steam game compared to the full release of Planet Coaster and the Beta, so you’ll have plenty of time to locally save and re-upload your Workshop items into Beta. But in preparation for shipping out the Beta, we will have to turn off support for the avatars on the globe in your Alpha game. This means you will no longer be able to see the Featured Creators or your Steam Friends when you fire up the Alpha version. This happens today, so don’t be alarmed when your avatar is chilling on the globe all by him or herself. On Wednesday, all globe functionality will be active in the Planet Coaster Beta!
As for Alpha functionality, that version will continue to work up until April 28, 2017. After this date, Planet Coaster Alpha and its Workshop will be removed from Steam altogether.

Another small update is regarding the VIP Tickets, if you have purchased one. Later this week, either on Thursday or Friday, you will be able to claim your purchased VIP Tickets; Single, Family, and Staff. They will function from the Beta version onwards, so you can get your avatar in before the release on November 17.

Hi all, as seen from our official forums, an update to the Steam Workshop. Please see the news quote below. :)

We’re getting close to Planet Coaster’s launch on November 17, 2016 and we’re really excited to see everyone playing and contributing to the Steam workshop and here on our forums! With our Beta fast approaching as well, we have a small but important update in regards to the Steam Workshop as we move toward these upcoming milestones.

Items posted to the Workshop in the Alpha version of Planet Coaster will NOT be available in the full release of the game, but there is a super easy way to save your Workshop items locally and transfer them with you into Beta.

If you have already saved your blueprint locally, you can skip this! If you don’t, here’s how you can do it:

1. Go to your Steam Library, find Planet Coaster Alpha and click on “Browse The Workshop” button
   
2. Click on Your Files > Files You’ve Posted
   
3. Subscribe to the items you haven’t got local blueprints of and wait for Steam to download them
   
4. Load up a new, empty park on any available level

Now you’re ready to start saving these items locally; once your game has loaded, continue with the following steps to preserve your amazing creations for the Beta:

1. Place the workshop item in your park
   
2. Using the multi-select tool, select the workshop item you’ve just placed
   
3. On the top-right, click on the “Save Item As Blueprint” button
   
4. Give your blueprint a title and description

That’s it! You’ve saved your blueprint locally and are ready to go. When the Beta/full release of Planet Coaster is released, you’ll be able to access the locally saved blueprint from the “My Blueprints” tab in Sandbox Mode – which you’ll be able to upload at your convenience to the Beta/full release Workshop. Also bear in mind that the current Alpha will be available to play a little after the Beta has gone live, so you don't have to rush to save your Workshop items.

To celebrate our amazing community, the hard work of the Planet Coaster development team, and our upcoming Beta and subsequent game release on November 17, we are organising an extra special event for you:


From Thursday, October 6 at 6PM BST, until Monday, October 10 at 5PM BST, anyone who has pre-ordered the Thrillseeker Edition of Planet Coaster will be able to join the Early Bird owners playing the Planet Coaster Alpha! What’s more, we’ll be coming together for an epic, imaginative, and fun weekend of community livestreams and activity!


Before we get started...

Make sure you’re ready by pre-ordering the Thrillseeker Edition of Planet Coaster so you can get access and join us during the Alpha weekend. The Thrillseeker Edition also includes Beta Access in early November, a Gold Mascot, Digital Sketchbook, Official Soundtrack, and in-game Golden Baseball Cap for your avatar which will be available at the game's release on November 17, 2016.

In preparation for this wonderful and creativity-filled weekend, and to get our new Thrillseeker players quickly up to speed, we are asking current Alpha players to create our foundations; all we need is the base of our epic park, meaning that all paths are there and some of the terrain editing has been done. Be as intricate or straightforward as you want with it; just remember to have clear areas in your park where we can build shops, coasters, rides, and community blueprints.

Save your park as PartyInThePark_YOURNAME and upload the park blueprint to the Steam Workshop (or alternatively submit its Steam URL to community@frontier.co.uk – be sure to title the email “Party in the Park Foundations”). We will pick one of your submitted parks to be the starting point of our giant community creation, and use it to build upon during the weekend livestreams.


Piece by Post

Another thing we want our current Alpha players to create together is the centrepiece of our park. We won’t know what it will be; it can turn into a superb statue, a funky figure, or a brilliant building. What’s important is that we make it together. Each of you who signs up gets to create a part of the centrepiece, save it, and send it on the next person. A Planet Coaster game of Chinese whispers, so to say! The final centrepiece will be revealed during the weekend livestreams and placed prominently inside our community park.

To take part in our Piece by Post experiment, please fill in and submit this Google Form[docs.google.com]. The community team will then contact all participants with the relevant instructions via the forum and email to get the process started and we will try and get through as many people as possible.


Join the Party

As previously mentioned, all pre-orders of the Thrillseeker Edition of Planet coaster will be able to join the Early Birds owners in the Planet Coaster Alpha during this weekend. Your Community Managers will be streaming on Saturday and Sunday at 18:00 - 21:00 BST – during these streams we will build our community park together, so be sure to tune in and continuously give us suggestions about what it will look like. You can also submit any of your Workshop items, and we will review them live as our park expands and grows.

The final park will be available on Steam to be played.

Anyone can join; make sure you have pre-ordered the Planet Coaster Thrillseeker Edition before the start of the Alpha weekend to gain instant access to the game. This access will be revoked at the end of the Alpha weekend (October 10, 5PM BST). This does not count for Early Bird owners, who will continue to have access up until the game’s release.

The update notes are below. It will be going live between 11:00 and 11:30 BST. Once again, I would like to take this chance to thank the development team for their fast and constant fixes as well as to you, the community, for helping support the development of the game through your amazing Alpha testing. Thank you all so much!

Hi everyone,

The Planet Coaster development team have been hard at work and we’re pleased to be releasing another post-Alpha 3 update today. This is aimed at addressing a number of stability fixes as well as making a few adjustments based on your feedback, so thank you for continuously sending us your thoughts! The update is due to go live at roughly 15:00 BST.

The first of these changes are the coaster height restrictions. Planet Coaster are proud to create rides and coasters which are fundamentally grounded in realism. However, after looking at the discussions within the community and the Alpha feedback forums, there was a large number of people who wanted to take their creations above and beyond the limits of a real-life coaster. We thought this was a cool idea and are now removing those restrictions to allow you the freedom between building a real-life style coaster for your park or creating something extra special; the choice is yours! You can see an example of the changes in the screenshot below.

Another area seeing a change in this update are large/joined pathing areas. Previously with large pathing spaces, there would be small circles left across those paths. With this change these will no longer be a problem. People will be able to make plaza-like areas with flat and complete pathing from edge to edge.

All the details of the update, including the addition of a curved friction wheel lift to the Junior Coaster and a curved chain lift to the Anubis Hypercoaster are detailed in the update notes below.

• Track height restrictions have been removed. Allowing more creativity in building coasters.
  
• Added curved friction wheel lift to the Junior Coaster and a curved chain lift to the Anubis Hypercoaster. This change has been inspired by the Jetline and Knight coasters researched by our forums.
  
• Removed the small circles that appear when you build/connect adjacent paths in align to grid mode. Allows the creation of plaza like areas.
  
• Various stability and input fixes.
