What is Crossplay?
Crossplay allows you to play the game online with other players that are playing on the Epic Games Store version of ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove!

How do I enable Crossplay?
From the Main Menu go to Settings -> Online Settings -> Epic Crossplay, and change it to "On". Then link your Epic Game Store account.

I don't have an Epic account, can I still use the Crossplay?
An Epic Games Store account is required to use the Crossplay feature.

Can I set up a private lobby for only my friends to join?
Yes! When selecting an Online game, choose "Friends Only" to make a private lobby. Your friend can filter the online lobby list to easily see your lobby.

My friend and I are both on Steam, why can't we see the online Lobby?
Make sure you both have the Crossplay setting On or Off. If one player has Crossplay enabled, but the other doesn't, you won't be able to matchmake.

Changing the Setting doesn't seem to be working?
If you have changed the setting recently please restart the game for the changes to take effect.

Will Crossplay work with the console versions of the game?
There are no plans to incorporate crossplay on the console versions at this time.

Earlier this year we launched the Still in the Groove update on Steam and Nintendo Switch. After that we changed gears and released the iiRcade port of the game. Today we are releasing a quick update to Back in the Groove containing some fixes that we addressed while working on the Switch build.

Thanks to everyone who reported the Endless World save games not loading, this patch should fix that issue. If your save continues to infinitely load then please start a new game and be sure to follow up if the issue persists after that.

One change we'd like to address is the intended distribution rules from the Still in the Groove Update.
Part of the Still in the Groove Update was intended to reduce the number of Earthlings and bushes/trees on all levels, especially in the early game. This change never made it's way through and is now fully working as intended.

What you should notice is much less Earthlings in the early game which will ramp up more as the levels progress. By around Levels 10-15 it should feel similar to the amount of Earthlings prepatch but the numbers have been reduced across ALL levels while still maintaining the difficulty of the late game.

Let us know what y'all think. In the meantime we will be focusing on the Switch update.

Hey all, just wanted to do a quick check in and say THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the positive feedback regarding the Still in the Groove update. We are so glad to hear everyone is enjoying all the new changes!!

You may have noticed a few hotfixes rolling out since then. We have been addressing some issues that many of our fans have found to ensure that once we move over to patching consoles we are as bug free as possible. We have rolled out our last update and HOPEFULLY no more major bugs will pop up.

If you are experiencing this bug, it means that one of the changes we made during our hotfixes was applied to your run and the save file may have become corrupted. Please make a new save file and reach out to us if the issue continues by leaving a comment. We apologize for the Total Bummer.

We have heard feedback that the Promotions sometimes feel too random and not rewarding enough to help deal with the Earthlings. We are now incorporating one free stat boost with each Promotion rank. Players will still get the 3 random stat boosts each time they promote, but we have added an extra guaranteed stat.

Been a minute. I think we missed a couple of holidays, a New Year and maybe a baby shower. Sorry about that. But we are BACK STILL IN THE GROOVE, yo!

Last year we opened the 1.7.0 Update Beta to collect feedback. It's been tough but we are finally ready to show off what we've been working so long on. The Earl sized change we made this time is the new BIGGER Fixed World maps. These maps were handcrafted by the OG funklord Greg Johnson.

While playtesting the maps Greg kept coming up with new ideas and tweaks to make the gameplay more fun!

So first, we heard the feedback about Earthlings being too frustrating and adjusted their behavior to make them a lil more funky to deal with. If you enjoyed the previous Earthling difficulty make sure to check out the Extreme World where the Earthlings are much harder.

Players also didn't like when Power Hats were instantly granted after stepping off an Elevator. Power Hats are now hidden on the map in bushes that sparkle! When you shake a sparkling bush the Power Hat will fly around for a bit before landing. Players can find up to 2 Power Hats per level. So make the most of them while you have them!

Present Stacking synergies are a feature we introduced in 1.6.0 where using certain presents together will make some funky new effects.
There are 3 hidden present synergies that will cause something cool or funny to happen.
Can you find the secret present combinations that unlock them?
We will give you a clue: the presents need to be AMPED.

We appreciate everyone that hopped back into the game to test the new update for us. In case you missed it we rolled out a pretty big update in beta form and gathered some feedback. We have now released another update which makes the 1.6.1 version complete. We will begin testing and rolling the update out to consoles shortly. Here are the notes for the final additions:
