All this because Hank hated boombox music

This game is meant to be very replayable.

The problem is that for it to be replayable it needs to have very good gameplay, otherwise it will be very boring.

The gameplay in this game is simply far too repetitive and feels unresponsive and poor.

I am not a game designer but I have a few ideas that could be useful on why this happened:

1. This game is too conservative with the gameplay. it's too similar to project nexus classic, which somehow manages to feel better than this game, probably due to better gun feel and similar artstyle to the animated version. This game just feels like a worse version of the classic game. We could have had entirely different gameplay, maybe gameplay that uses a lot of the environement, similar to En guarde, or maybe a gameplay that has a lot of interesting synergies between weapons and how they interact with ennemies, like ultrakill or doom. Or a more complex melee combat system or a more responsive or stylistic one, like in batman arkam knight or Sifu. You could have more interesting movement options like in Mirror edge. Obviously it would be difficult to borrow from all these games and keep a strong balance, but it has none of any of the intersting gameplay elements of any of the popular action games.

2. Guns are just too good, melee is simply too slow and doesn't do enough damage and has no range, it's always faster and more fun to shoot people. The gameplay of this game is about trying to run from one gun to another, dodging all the (easy to dodge) attacks in between and emptying your gun on the ennemie then run to the next one. If there is no gun then you punch your ennemie until you have to dodge very slow attacks that don't do enough damage (and even if they did a lot of damage it would still be boring) and then hit them again

3. This game is best played as a relaxing experience, which can be good but it is not what I got this game for, I got this game to feel the madness of the serie, to feel the anxiousness and stress of fighting off many ennemies. Or alternatively to become a rampaging murderer and bathe in the blood of my ennemies. This game didn't fit that expectation, I found this game fit better as something to play when I am listening to a video essay or talking to friends, while being very relaxed. This isn't bad, but my own expectations and hopes for this game made me very disappointed.

I think that is really everything I can think about, I love this game and would be happy to explore it again if it gets a major gameplay change!

It's been almost 4 years since this game was released to the public. Back then, in the distant past, I was a schoolboy without a job or pocket money, and I couldn't try this product, so I went to my friend's house every day and played this game on his computer. What did I feel then? I was very happy that a universe like Madness Combat was developing on such a scale. I liked everything: fights, graphics, style, customization, story mode... And then, after going through the arena mod 3 times and playing as a mage, I realized that it was too boring and put the game on the back burner.....
What's with the game now? Nothing. Literally nothing. All that was really worthwhile was added over these 4 years - a couple of new characters and every 2 months they roll out an update with 2 fixes for some bugs and... that's it. I understand that it wasn't done by a big studio, there were a couple of people there and they don't have time and few people are interested in the game anymore. But ♥♥♥♥, your level design has remained the same since September 2021, it's just as incomprehensible lol, I'm sure half of the people quit the game after they spent 2 hours trying to get through the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tutorial to level 3. Because they don't tell you that you don't have to do it, the main thing for you is always to get through levels 2-3, and then abandon the task and that's it. This is nonsense, who came up with this? The interface is inconvenient (for me personally). And it's inconvenient only because of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bugs, of which there are enough, and I'm sure a person who played at least 5 hours NOT IN THE STORY (although even in it there were all sorts of bugs), will encounter at least 3 major bugs. For example, after I imprinted in the arena 2 times, I started actively skipping character dialogues. And in the dialogue with Gambler (where you go up the stairs with him), you can stupidly actively press the ENTER button and wait for him at the door to another dimension, but no, the scripts will break and he will stupidly stand at another door (downstairs). And this is one of many bugs. ♥♥♥♥, in the end, 3 years and a bit have passed, and NOTHING has changed here, NOTHING at all. And I'm sad that the authors are actively selling merch, some figurines, etc., and not working on their own game, which, apparently, has become their little PR company. Oh, and by the way, while I was writing this review, I went into the game, where 3 of my imprints simply flew off and I ended up at level 8 as a noob, although I was Massive. Go to hell, developers.
