Dear Flight School players,

Our goals with Flight School were twofold: to create an entry level sim for people new to the hobby and to implement technical functionality to build upon in the future. Now, we have expanded our goals for our upcoming simulator, a platform we plan to expand upon and support for years to come.

We will still retain the ethos of introducing beginners to the hobby, but without compromising on the depth and complexity demanded by more experienced flyers by implementing a much clearer curve to mastery in our upcoming sim. With this in mind, we have made the decision to retire Flight School. The sim and all of your saved data will remain in your Steam library, however it is no longer available for purchase.

We will have more announcements about our upcoming sim in the following weeks as well as something special for existing Flight School owners to thank you for your continuous support and feedback

Earlier this year, we announced the development of our new flight simulator, which generated an incredible amount of excitement in the community. We would like to thank you all for the tremendous amount of interest and support we have received so far.

Based on your feedback, we have been focusing on three key areas: visuals, performance and experience, all of which are instrumental to the hobby. In order to further enhance these areas, we have made the decision to postpone the release of this project.

In the meantime, we expect to have a detailed development update for you in the New Year. As a team, we are incredibly excited to share what we have been up to! Until then, we hope you have a fantastic holiday season and look forward to making 2017 a great year for flight simulation.

As part of our continued efforts to provide the best possible flight simulation experience, we are pleased to announce the eighth update for Dovetail Games Flight School is now live. The change log is as follows:

• Enabled swapping between Nav1/2 and Com1/2 in virtual cockpit mode(DA42)
  
• Fixed a crash caused by players toggling UI audio options on a voice audio device that is no longer plugged in.
  
• Fixed rapid acceleration of camera controls in the DA42.
  
• Fixed flickering “Turn Indicator” tool tip
  
• Enabled deleting key assignments in the new control settings UI
  
• Fixed various text issues in missions and lessons.

If you have automatic Steam downloads enabled, your update will install automatically. The approximate download size of this update is 17 MB.

We would like to call attention to an error made on one of our previous announcements relating to the upcoming release of the Diamond DA42 update for those who did not pre-order Flight School. Due to the UK Summer Bank Holiday, those of you who did not pre-order Flight School will receive the DA42 update on 25th August rather than the 29th as previously stated.

The final winning entry of the Design Your Own Achievement competition is now live. “Tour Leader”, submitted by Joeri, takes you on a round trip taking off and landing from Sion Airport in the Rhone Valley. This flight is designed to be a tour flight, taking you through the stunning Swiss Alps.
