Effulgence RPG Big Update 9600 (Milestone #1)

Important: this update touches a lot of systems, so old saves won’t carry over — you’ll need to start a new game. Sorry for the inconvenience.

New combat location "Old Station". Tentacle-like grass tries to strangle your heroes. The finale is a huge, very strong, but slow boss.
Resource Bag. Resources earned in combat can now be taken with you and spent later (printing/healing/purchases).
Trading at the Smugglers' Glade. You can buy schematics and ready-made items.
Glyph Bomb. Built right during combat for the bosses currently on screen. The more matching symbols it has (the symbols the bosses are made of), the stronger the effect. One use per location.
Resupply after defeat. A safety net against dead ends: the game grants support (ammo/weapons). The worse your situation, the bigger the resupply.
The Inn heals up to 110% HP for resources. Wells restore HP too, but only up to the maximum — the Inn can give you overheal.
Skill level cap. The cap depends on your current party size: 1=>2, 2=>4, 3=>8, 4=>16 (2^N).
Unique item properties. Examples:
1. Linear Blaster: shoots at a target; if it misses, it fires a second shot, and so on.
2. Vintage Blaster: fires a shotgun-like spread and can hit multiple targets in a cone.
3. Assault Blaster: a hit triggers a mini-explosion that splashes nearby bosses.
4. Flint Spears: 3 throws per turn, aimed at different bosses.
5. Cluster Grenade: after the explosion, it bounces and hits a distant target.
6. Steroid Injector: in addition to healing, it provides extra recovery after the first instance of damage taken.

Am I deciphering the description correctly - that the early access version is only 1.5 hours long and the main game is supposed to be around 5 hours?

Hi! I want to ask your opinion about one important gameplay detail. In Effulgence RPG, if you lose a battle in a location, you go back to the planet map. There you can heal, get buffs and upgrade skills. But weapons that were destroyed or lost in the battle are gone. Getting new weapons is not always easy. Pre-release build of the major update - looking for feedback

I'm rolling out the major update a bit early so I can calmly catch issues and ship hotfixes before January 2.

Important: This update includes many changes, so old saves are not compatible - you'll need to start a new run. Sorry for the inconvenience.

If you notice bugs, odd balance, or rough UI edges, please report them in the Steam Discussions or in Discord (if you're in it). The more precise the reproduction steps, the faster I can fix it.

Over the next few days I'm planning to push a few hotfixes based on your feedback.

Animated Profile Frame is Live + Jan 2 Update Preview

Happy holidays!

The Animated Profile Frame for Effulgence RPG is now available in the Steam Points Shop.

I'm also pushing toward a major update on January 2. The highlights:

10+ weapon twists: I'm making sure every weapon has a gameplay hook, not just different numbers. Designed the old-school way - in my notebook (image below).
New location: a fresh battlefield to fight through.
Rebalanced: a full balance recalculation for a better flow and difficulty curve.

Thanks a lot for all the feedback on the previous poll! It was super helpful. Here's the next question I'd love your thoughts on: Right now, in battle locations the heroes stand on fixed positions. Should I add the option to swap heroes between these positions? On one hand, this would make the controls more complex in a game that's already quite dense.
