Hey, just wondering why this game never on sale for more than 6 years?

I'm using a 29" ultrawide monitor and the game refuses to run at any other resolution than native, which seem to give me two very unsightly black bars that go right over certain subtitles. It's like I'm playing the game with a giant black equal sign in front of me (with bits of the game visible above and below the sign)....
