Truly love the spooky story going on, the fact that the game doesn't hold your hand too much but also doesn't have you searching up a walkthrough and especially the character point allocation with learning about medicine and the occult but... the motion sickness I experienced with this game was insane. I gave in 5 out of 14 chapters in. Otherwise, I'd say it was pretty good.

In Call of Cthulhu developed by Cyanide Studio, you are immersed in a world of cosmic horror inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's works. The narrative follows private investigator Edward Pierce as he delves into the mysterious Hawkins family murder on Darkwater Island. Your choices throughout the game deeply influence its multiple endings, making each decision critical as you navigate through the eerie atmosphere and eldritch secrets. The balance between sanity and knowledge is key, leading to different fates for Pierce based on your actions, providing a rich and replayable experience.

Very fun on the rails detective-lite fps. Some stealth, some investigation, some running. Don't expect perfect and buy at a discount and you'll have a good time. I beat the game and not 100% at just under 10 hours.

As a CoC Dm and lovecraft fan i really tried to love this game.

I expected it to be at least as good as the Call of Cthulhu, Dark Corners of the Earth game from 2006. My minimum expectations was to have a game that would be more stable and technically better than this old title.

What can i say. the game mechanics is one of the worst i ever saw in a game. It is unrewarding, unfun, and to be honest... annoying. Getting hunted by AI is scary if you do it like in Alien Isolation. Monsters in this game are linear and so badly coded its ridiculous. The only thing haunting in this game are the everlasting and enlessly repeating quotations of lurking enemies.

All the parts with the Shambler, as well with normal AI enemies were a straight up headache.

I do not mind the old school design choices in the world building or the overall appearance. But combine it with the mechanics this game feels not finished and absolutely not polished. Not for its story, i really enjoyed the small dip into madness, which was actually quite ok storytelling. But gameplay wise this game lacks so severely i cannot recommend it, even on a discount price.

tldr: Story is quite good, Enemy AI, and gameplay though feel like some students project without any experience, and therefore its a truly lovecraftian horror.

Conclusion: If you do not mind a buggy game, but want a Innsmouth story thats more catching and has better gameplay, play Dark Corners of the Earth. I enjoyed that title more than this one.
