I keep seeing stuff about custom characters in this game, and I know it has to do with completing the game. what information am I missing?

I'm having a problem with the input for player two using a gamepad. All buttons perform normally in menus for both players, but only player one's movement controls (pirouette, running, interacting) function at all in rooms. Player 2 can still bring up the pause menu where full control is allowed including the use of both analog sticks, but exiting the menu removes all movement controls completely. Lore rich game pixel art as visual... no cards. I don't know... seems like a missed opportunity to me and I would hate to add this game to the list of games I skip because I give priority to games who have steam cards.

Let first say that your game looks extremely unique and beautiful, and I'm looking forward to playing it. That being said, going for local co-op on PC is, for me, has always been an odd move. You don't only have the obvious choice of online functionality, but you might also consider taking the single-player route by allowing each character to be controller by one of the analogue sticks (in a similar fashion to Brothers).
