The launch of Void Monsters sees the completion of our new engine. With that comes a release date for Fortunes Tavern 2 (a free update for all FT owners.), July 2018. After that we plan to re-release both Star-Box and Apocalypse hotel using this far better engine, and of course, they will be free to all previous owners. While you are waiting on that, why not give Void Monsters a try, and see how far the engine has progressed.

Fortune's Tavern has just been updated to the newly released 'Remastered Version'

Firstly: This is not the Upcomming 'Fortune's Tavern 2.0' - but a remastered version of the original with a new musical score, new graphics, new maps, new story additions, cleaner UI, many bug fixes, and other small things.

Everyone who owns this version will still be getting FT2 for free when it is released. Since starting the 2.0 version we have changed engines twice and are now working in MV with a small but dedicated team. More news will/may follow soon!

Whats been going on?

Fortune’s Tavern was originally created by three partners. After the partnership split there were legal issues concerning the game’s intellectual property and the game was left up in the air for some time.
With the upcoming release of Moonstone Tavern I have been able to convince the other IP holders to sell their interests: meaning that I can now transfer Fortune’s Tavern to the Moonstone Tavern engine without further complicating the legal negotiations. Both myself and the Moonstone Tavern team are very excited about re-making FT with a more stable and much more user-friendly engine.

What does this mean?

With all the recent legal wrangling we were forced to hide FT from the Steam store and this will stay that way until the game has been updated to the new engine.

We estimate this will take up to five months but are hopeful it will be sooner.

Everyone who owns FT will get updated to the new version as soon as it goes into Beta and will have the option of playing the game at this stage.

Nobody who owns FT will have to buy the new version. We wouldn’t charge you twice.

We will be adding new content to FT such as armour and weapon crafting, and fully controllable familiars that can level up, and we will be completely overhauling the quest system bringing the current random quests up from five to 16. All to match the features in Moonstone Tavern.

In the next few weeks we will be creating a development blog where you can follow the progress of the re-write. More info on that will follow shortly.

Our friends over at 'Braincraft Gaming' have been working on a game based off the 'Apocalypse Hotel' engine - Normally limited to mobile games this is their first foray into PC gaming and I think they have created something special.

WARNING: This game is incredibly difficult. If you find the later stages of Fortune's Tavern difficult you will not enjoy this game. It is a rogue-lite style game which features permanent death - That's right folks - if you die, you die. It's more about beating your high-score than completing the story (I've scored 516 - if you want to try to beat me)

I personally really enjoy games like this, and like Nethack, but make sure to read the warnings on their page before purchasing. I have released it on Steam for them and hopefully they will be releasing a mobile port sometime in the next 6 months... take a look at their page for more details!
