Let's be clear - I've played scores of these hidden cat games. This is Not the Best of them. It is Not the Worst of them. I was actually drawn to it in amazement at the sheer number of players who have climbed on board that Hate Train, as if this Free To Play game has ruined their lives LOL.
Is the art of the game totally lacking and uninspired, Yes. The cats are all the same over and over from about a dozen templates. The challenge is to find them ALL for the one, single achievement that acknowledges the accomplishment. So for all the hilarious haters, if you are looking for someone to be angry with, the mirror would be a good start. No, there is no 'hint' button, so you may need to put on your big-boy pants, and actually solve the puzzle all by yourself. Being a bit of a masochist may be a plus, I'll admit. I saw the mostly negative reviews, and got a bit confused as most of those hidden cats games are quite decent for what they want to be, they have a nice art style, the pictures are great and so on and so forth. This one however not so much. The whole thing is really random, each part of the whole picture has a different art style and the cats are not really hidden but just in plain sight for the most part.
I don't necessarily dislike it for the AI, as others pointed out it would be really expensive to have artists draw each and every one of those, but at least look over it, it just does not look good if the pictures have clear borders, if the artstyle of each statue is different and when ancient temples are right next to modern buildings.
Overall the game still does what it promises, you get to find cats, but out of all of the probably dozens of hidden object games I have played by now, this is probably one of the if not the most disappointing ones. And also the first one I did not bother to find all objects.
But well it is free, so still give it a shot and build your own opinion, but given how many of those type of games are out there and free, I don't really see a reason to play this particular one if all the others are better.
