CODE Bunny is a fast paced action platformer where you can play as two different characters. Thankfully they have separate campaigns because one of them just didn't suit my play style, therefore I didn't enjoy playing them. The other however (Hazel) was an absolute blast that I enjoyed playing as. The game controls great, it has nice pixel art and good music. A few different modes too so if you want a classic experience without any story you can do that. If you enjoy combat flowing with mobility you should definitely check this game out, it's smooth and satisfying to zip through it's well designed levels.

CODE Bunny is a short and engaging 2D Action Platformer where you can play any of the two characters Hazel & Axel. This is a fast paced combat game similar to games like Megaman series.

Solid Controls and the art and music were pretty neat. The story lore was great as well, I enjoyed almost all of the dialogues of each character.

The Boss battles were fun and creative. I loved every single one of them. This is a very recommended 2D action platformer that you will enjoy if you played similar games or even if you haven't it's still great to play.

The two characters Axel and Hazel follow the same final goal but their paths change a lot, their gameplay and plotlines are very different, so you see two different perspectives in the happenings of the main plot. Gameplay is really smooth, it responds well and goes along with the fast pacing of the game, Axel is specialized in acrobatic movement, while Hazel is more of a fast sword slasher, but all and all they both share the same structure of having skills to make you think fast and finish the stage fast.

CODE Bunny's main event is story mode, where you travel through the stages beat the bosses and enjoy the plot for each individual character. You can alternatively also play the mode that has no story and just go through the action, but I do recommend you experience the whole thing as the story holds pretty good surprises under the sleeve, I was personally not ready for the level of drama and seriousness I've seen in there, but of course it also has some nice comedic relief as well. There's also speedrun mode that unlocks after you beat their main plot, which is quite self-explanatory you go the fastest you can through the game.

Art style and music goes with the whole 2D platform oldschool theme, nice chiptune music and colorful pixel art following a color scheme for each place you're in, the gradient is very well balanced you can tell what's stage what's enemy what's background what's platform what's attack, that is crucial for platforming games and it gets the job well done here, and all the sprites are also pretty well done.

Usually 2D platformers try to be "oldschool hardcore" but CODE Bunny's idea of challenge comes out of something entirely different. CODE Bunny's main gimmick is playing around with pacing and inertia, the real challenge exists on beating a stage or boss the fastest you can with a good combo so you can get rank S, and for that you'll need to understand well how each character's skills work and combo them with enemies, here enemies exist to help you go faster, not slower. You can beat the game quite easily by not doing any insane tricks, enemies are quite easy to clear and that's completely fine, but if you do insane tricks it rewards you with higher platforms and faster times, the true core of the game.

CODE Bunny is a really quick game to beat but don't let that fool you, it's entertaining at every second, each character's unique gameplay is super fun to master and the storylines packs quite some punch of drama, and once you're done with the story the game offers you tempting options to explore its core further and blitz the fastest you can through the stages. It's familiar and new at the same time, you can tell the developers put plenty of care into it, definitely check it out if you're into 2D platforming and fast action.
