More than 6,000 players bravely survived the lighthouse, and we dropped 5 patches to make the experience even better and continuing to do so. Thank you to everyone who played, shared feedback, and supported us. You’re the reason we keep going!

Today we’ve also added 6 new languages to demo (automatically translated):
- Simplified Chinese
- Spanish
- Portuguese (Brazilian)
- Japanese
- German
- French

We’ve prepared a new version of the cinematic specifically for Next Fest. The demo offers five days of gameplay. In the trailer, you can see what happened to the one who failed to last on the lighthouse. What the protagonist learned left him restless.

We’re celebrating Steam Next Fest with the new update!

The tides are shifting, and the lighthouse calls once more 👁

After the playtest we received a lot of feedback and comments. Thanks to everyone who played and shared their opinion 💚 We've listened to you, and brought new life (and terror) to Static Dread with a major update! From eerie new events to tools that might just keep you sane, the darkness has never been more unpredictable. Will you survive the changes?

Here’s what awaits you:
- Full gamepad and steamdeck support.
- Rebalanced energy and sanity system. Your consciousness and sanity are now more dependent on the light. Keep the beacon burning to stay sane!
- Rebalanced sound volumes + new sounds.
- 11 bonus tracks for cassette player.
- New UI with frame-by-frame animations and improved artwork.
- Rebalanced store prices.
- The lamp, cassette player and coffee pot are now interactive and help you stay sane. The lamp creates an area of safe light where you can hide from the darkness. Cassette player helps you restore energy. Once every 4 minutes you can drink coffee from the coffee pot without spending resources.
- Many new events. Darkness became more inventive. Shadows now apper inside and outside the lighthouse, and doors have a life of their own.
- Several bug fixes.
- Additional text proofreading and correction of mistakes.

The lighthouse stands ready, its beacon cutting through the growing darkness. But the shadows are deeper now, and the whispers louder. Will you keep the light burning, or will the tides claim you too? 🌊

First Static Dread Playtest is Over – And It Was Awesome!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated! 780 players joined the playtest, and 300 of you filled out feedback forms. Not bad, right? This is incredibly valuable information for us.

Yeah, we get it — having to constantly run for fish, energy drinks, and coffee was exhausting. Sorry about that! :) Oh, and the generator? Yeah, it got a little out of hand. It was way too loud, we hear you!

We're working on improving technical stability, completely reworking the energy mechanic, and refining many aspects of the game based on your feedback.

But you know what? Beyond all the suggestions and reports on what we need to fix, there was something else really important in your responses: the ratings you gave the game, its atmosphere, and its story. Across the board, Static Dread scored an average of 4.5 out of 5. We saw a lot of perfect scores, and many of you really, really enjoyed the experience.

We understand that this is an early playtest, and your high ratings are a show of faith in us. The game is far from finished, but we're truly grateful for your support and excited that Static Dread is resonating with you.

Some of the updates — like the new energy system — will be available in the Steam Next Fest demo, starting on February 24. If you played the current version, we’d love to hear your thoughts on the changes!

The first Static Dread playtest has begun!

Want to explore the old lighthouse and face some cosmic horror, just like in Lovecraft’s stories? Then hit the playtest button on our Steam-page and you’ll receive an invitation to join.

This is an early version of Static Dread, so it may contain bugs and errors, but it’s very important for us to learn what’s your first impression of the gameplay. What do you like? What don’t you like? What could be improved or changed? Once you finish the 5th night, a short form will appear — please, fill it out. It will help us a lot!

In this version 5 in-game nights are available.

Please, note:
- Gamepad is not yet supported.
- Steam Deck is also not yet supported.
- You may experience performance issues. If your FPS drops, please let us know your PC specs in the feedback form.
- Some mechanics aren’t final. The game is still in development and will be changing.
