The majority of people who played this game never played long enough to get 500 rings. How is this possible?

In the area with the butterflies around the flowers, whenever i touch them they glitch out and soft-lock me in the area, I've tried dying and restarting the level but even those don't help!!! Anyone know what to do or how to fix this?
