played this wayyy back on the 360, one of my all time favorite zombie survivals I would highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of such. can't wait for SoD3 :)

I played this game for the first time in June 2013 when it got released on Xbox. The game still holds great today. It is like I remember playing it 11 years ago + there are additional game modes in the YOSE version that I experienced for the first time. For some reason the most memorable gameplay aspect of the game for me was the fact that the cars stay exactly where you leave them, they don't despawn and their location is kept though the whole game, though different gaming sessions. Anyways, the game has aged a bit, 1440p is not supported natively, but after a bit of tinkering and searching I managed to make an enjoyable experience out of it.

This is basically the zombie survival game equivalent of a Tamagotchi: that is to say, you will have to devote yourself to babysitting a settlement and the game repays you with punishment. Not challenge, punishment. It's on you to CONSTANTLY get resources for the settlement, micromanage the settlement, do missions for the settlement, do main story missions, escort settlers so they don't die, etc. Doing all of this takes its toll on the player as melee weapons break, spending time outside the base reduces your total stamina pool until you "rest" at the settlement, (think minimum of 30 minutes), and zombie respawns are constant. Can you take other settlers, besides the main character, out to give others a rest? Yes, but if they die, (especially in the early game), your game basically is over- you just don't know it yet. Did I mention that when you leave the game and reload it, your settlement's resources will automatically be reduced to mimic the passage of time?

Are there good elements? Absolutely, but the execution is poor enough to overshadow them, even if you leave out the numerous bugs or that the game's controls scream "Console Port", in the worst possible way.

I think I've found a fix for the crashing issue. Will update the review after I've had a chance to play some more.
