The crazy and awesome thing is this is still active. I played one round with folks who clearly play this regularly. They had their own Half Life language and were just hanging out with each other. So cool!

The HL2 DeathMatch...... is it the best DM game ever made? No, obviously not but it's a throwback to simpler times.

Just a reminder that it could be cool to play it from time to time.

Here's how to play Half-Life 2: Deathmatch:

Join a server
Get a pop-up add that can't be closed
Force-quit game
Join another server
Get wrist-ache within five minutes because Valve didn't map the control scheme for game-pads (it's only a first person shooter, Call of Duty manages it)
Quit

I'm not going to put more time into my review of the game than I spent playing it

Ever seen the many weapons available during your trek through City 17 and thought "damn, I really want to use these for manslaughter?" You're in luck! HL2D is ready and raring to let you slaughter your friends with pulse rifles, crossbows, and much more!

jokes aside, there's not much to hate on or talk about here. Deathmatch is fun, you can easily find some other cool maps and servers, and it's lonely enough of you and a couple of friends to screw around free of public players like in TF2. Just like TF2, however, you probably have it if you own HL2 or the Orange Box, so there really isn't much of a reason to hate it.

Played this game for 1000s of hours before Steam was a thing. Was amazing. Played again today and it felt like meeting an old friend - had so much fun. Would recommend.
