Does not work on up to date system. Tried Compatibility modes down to XP SP3, including launching as Administrator. Please help!

Does anybody know another game which are similar to Puzzle Agent 1 + 2? One that is atmospheric, funny, and has real puzzles? It does not have to incorporate all of this, but has the same vibe... Thanks in advance.

I really like the game but I was frustrated with some of the puzzle arrangements. There is a number of puzzles I consider broken, e.g. their rules allow for multiple solutions but not every solution will be accepted. So far the only puzzle allowing more

So, this might be really a naive question, but I got this puzzle wrong and I was surprised when I discovered the correct solution. Obviously spoilers below. The line still cuts all the four bars, what's wrong?...

Second puzzle "Directions and Detours" won't load. I can't see anything other than the white background, logs are invisible as are objects etc. Any Ideas??
