Really despise the idea in play here?

I just remembered this game today and how captivating I found the premise. I've always loved the lore of video games too so I was wondering if any of you had an interest in revealing it to us. Like, what exactly was happening in the universe? What are the flock and what is their relationship with the light? That sort of thing...

Never got to play this, but I'm fascinated with the whole story of this game and where it ended up. If I buy it is there any hope of actually playing it? is it also possible to still acquire all the achievements in this game??
