Today we're excited to announce that Void Sols is Steam Deck verified! We've also just rolled out our first major patch, 1.5.2.1. We've added quite a few new features, gameplay changes, community bug fixes, and some more weapon balance changes.

Full patch notes, see below:

• Apex Horn Statue does something now…
• Frying Pan has a new secret synergy…
• Equipping items play unique sounds!
• All equipment that is picked up should now display a new item icon on the equipment button until hovered over by the player

• Parrying Shield now parries whenever you release the button. Previously you could only tap to parry, meaning holding it did nothing. You can still tap to parry as before, but now you can also hold to ready the parry and release, allowing a bit more depth to parrying gameplay and not punishing the player for holding the button for a bit too long
• Cold Debuff: This was previously dealing entirely too much damage to enemies. We have enough damage-dealing status effects, so we decided to rework this status effect into something that has a different kind of utility. Triggering cold on yourself has been unchanged, you still take a chunk of non-fatal damage, and have your stamina regeneration reduced. If an enemy is affected by cold however, they take stance damage, reduced move speed, and their stance will no longer regenerate until the status depletes.
• The Codebearer puzzle should be a little easier now…
• Zenith Phase 1 has some balance changes, and a small gameplay change that makes it a little harder
• Some items moved around in Cultist Compound for better game progression

• Player can no longer go out of bounds by going south from Zenith arena
• Infernal Key can still be picked up if you died after defeating Infernal Warden
• Significant fixes to the ritual used to spawn Amalgamate
• Blacksmith and Alchemist no longer ask for more alloy and alembics after you have fully upgraded
• Switch Pro Controller should show proper glyphs on main menu and rebind correctly on controls menu (The menu would break previously)
• Items that cannot be acquired in Challenge runs / Nox Trials no longer show up on maps
• Music will now stop playing forever when quitting to the main menu in some cases

• Updated OOBY music track
• No more OOBY farming
• No longer counting certain easter egg items on end screen
• Fixed sprite sorting of miner spin attack effect
• Fixed torches that were rendering as circles instead of diamonds

We've just rolled out a new patch, 1.5.1.4. This patch focuses on a few community bug fixes, a new accessibility feature and some balance changes.

New Features

• Added a setting called “Disable Distortion Effects” that allows you to turn off the Mysterious Mushroom screen effect and other effects that can make the screen “wobbly”
  

Critical Error Fixes

• Nox Gamma would heal enemies that are dead, causing a variety of enemy AI errors
• Talisman audio no longer persists if you are using it when you die
• Chewy Seaweed, Quiver of Holding, Verdant Berry, Purifying Needle, Stale Bread now all consume a use on press instead of on release
• Inserted more safeguards to prevent rare crash when pressing “Die Immediately”
• Immaculate can no longer die during its phase 2 transition, causing the player to get stuck and preventing phase 2 from ever happening

Minor Bug Fixes

• Nox Alpha no longer accidentally buffs potions. The text still says it reduces potion effectiveness, but we have removed the buff without implementing the described debuff. We will update the text at a later date to remove the line about potions.
• Garnet Aegis no longer accidentally buffing potion heal amount
• Zenith move speed reset on stun, preventing inadvertent fast movement if stunned mid-attack
• Fixing Spanish Latam metamorphic alloy / sol alembic localization error
• Ensuring groundskeeper doesn’t cancel attacks when a confessor is killed
• Preventing players from accidentally launching unimplemented Nox Trials due to a UI issue
• Fixed enemy pathing issues in mines
• The item pickup visible on the beach from the mountain disappears if you have picked up the item on the beach

We've just rolled out a minor patch 1.5.1.3a to fix a bug that was sometimes causing the game to launch into a black screen. This was occurring mainly for players who had an old supermax challenge save.

If you are experiencing this issue, make sure to update your game now to the latest build!

The team is also currently working on a larger patch that will squash some other bugs, community reported issues and some balance changes to the game. We’re hoping to roll this out very soon, so stay tuned.

This time, we’re diving deep into a rugged and mysterious area that is brimming with ominous energy. Welcome to the Mountains, a place filled with towering peaks, treacherous paths, and a host of brand-new enemies just waiting to challenge even the most experienced players.

As you emerge from the dense thickets of the Forest, there begins a turning point in your adventure. The world before you is now much larger, and you have the power to decide your fate. This is where your journey truly begins—the moment the world opens up, giving you the choice of which path to take next.

Whether it was by choice or through destiny, if you’ve stumbled upon the Mountains, be prepared as this area will truly test your survival instincts against nature’s harshest elements.

When designing this mountainous region we wanted to create an area that feels grand and intimidating, where nature itself becomes a formidable foe. This challenging environment needs to be navigated carefully, as you focus your attention on how to avoid and manage certain environmental debuffs on top of every other threat that lurks around the corner.

With any new region, there’s a new set of adversaries! You’ll come face to face with new angular enemies, each armed with their own distinct move sets and strapped with powerful weapons that will inevitably keep you on your toes.

Stamina management will be extremely critical while traversing this region, due to the hostile conditions of the territory you’ll be faced with, in addition to the difficulty of the enemies in this area. However, there is always hope, guided by a humble Flaming Torch which you should have discovered earlier in your travels. This item will become a blessing as you navigate your way through the blistering cold.

You might feel like the world itself is against you. Fierce enemies, dangerous terrain, and relentless weather, it can seem like every step forward is a battle for survival. However, for every brutal challenge you face, there’s also a reward waiting for you to claim it. The deeper you venture, the more powerful tools you'll discover to add to your arsenal and relics that resonate with the region, ultimately turning the tide in your favour.

Our design team has been hard at work making sure the icy mountains are both beautiful to look at and deadly to traverse. We want this area to be a place where every corner holds a new threat, but also a reward for those who are brave enough to explore it fully. The new weapons and items aren't just powerful—they’re designed to feel like natural extensions of the environment, giving you the tools to fight the cold and conquer the unpredictable terrain.

We also wanted to give players a sense of freedom by opening up the world and allowing you to choose your path, creating a more immersive and personalised experience. We believe that every decision should feel meaningful, and each region should offer a unique set of risks with a satisfactory pay off, to make your journey unforgettable.

We’re extremely excited for you to be able to explore this region fully once Void Sols launches next month, November 12th! Our demo is also available to play for free, for those of you who haven’t had a chance to dive into the world yet.

We’re thrilled to announce that our demo is a part of Steam Next Fest October. 🎉

Void Sols is a new indie soulslike developed by Finite Reflection Studios that combines the minimalist visuals of Geometry Wars with the tense combat of Dark Souls. You play as a humble triangle facing off against menacing angular enemies and relentless, challenging bosses. You will die, but the lesson from each defeat is vital. Defeat enemies, collect their Sols and use them to refine your abilities and enhance your build in this abstract fantasy.
