This game is going to take years off of my life.

If you want a game where you can attack without repercussions then this is your game, having good defence is nice to have but when you have characters that pretty much always have the frame advantage then you're at a loss. If you play this game and are in the high ranks you'll see a lot of people who have a really low defence stat compared to their attack. This game isn't what it used to be, where you could be rewarded for playing defensively. Compared to T7, graphic wise this is obviously the better game, but in terms out actual gameplay T7 flies way past this.

Tekken 8 is another modern fighting game which unfortunately I need to leave a dislike. The greed just took over the video games companies but it's getting to another level and it's not just Tekken. I remember a times when I could buy a game for 5€ (and even 1€ for a BUNDLE PACK WOOT)... Then for 10€... Then for 20€... Then around 80€ for a video game that has battlepass extra payment and DLC stuff? Sorry but everything has it's limits - and that's my review about the pricing policy... VERY NEGATIVE. However the price is only one piece of cake. Let's talk about the gameplay...

The gameplay is similiar to older Tekken series with implementation of some new flashy moves and heat system. The "strategy" was kinda reduced to promote a bit of a more aggresive gameplay. The characters are much more "aggressive" now but their combos are weaker and easier to execute. The great example is the reworked Eddy Gordo. Eddy has the ability now to perform a very high damage combos by pressing only one button meanwhile his gameplay and tactics has been lowered down, he can't lay on the ground anymore, his poke is worse, there is no sense to hold the distance now and he has no "baits" or atleast I didn't found any. Now he is just a close-combat focused spam character like most of the characters in the game right now... But it's not an Eddy review, It's an game review, right? So let me add that most of the characters does looks like that. Just pure close-combat pressure and fight, no variety at all. It can be fun for a while or fun for the beginners (there is even a support-system that does let beginners do the combos with pressing one buttons) but in longer way it's very unfun and it's in general worse to the game than good. The game gets boring quicker because most of the battles looks the same... Cool and flashy but boring.

QUICK SUMMARY:
They added too much unecessary things and they took away too many necessary things. The engine is good but there are some unecessary paths that the game went into. Game is focused on close-combat spam rather than KIND OF "strategy" that it used to be in older Tekken games. Beginner-support system aka press one button to do a combo unecessary in my opinion and the game is overpriced plus has some DLC and extra microtransactions like battlepass. The game generally is fine... I mean... It has potential but... There are so many wrong things that could be easily changed for good...
