Dragon Quest III is the definitive JRPG of it's era and i think this is almost an objective fact,it is everything the genre was trying to be at the time and then some,borrowing a lot from western RPG's like Ultima and Wizardry.Such as non-linear open world design,custom party members and first person turn based battles.And then adding it's own spin on the formula,a very anime inspired art direction,and a story that focuses on small,personal vignettes.This is such a different approach to RPG's from Japanese developers nowadays,that it feels very unique even though it is very basic on paper.However everything comes together to create a game with an amazing gameplay loop and an unmatchable sense of adventure
Accomplishing such a diverse world,filled with different cultures,stories and aesthetics is a very respectable achievement for a 35 year old NES game.DQ3's world,especially with this version's amazing visuals and FANTASTIC translation,might be my favorite world in any JRPG.As most of you probably knows,it mimics our real world,so going to Japan and seeing everyone speak with haikus,and then witnessing a recreation of an old Japanese myth is so delightful,and creates such strong worldbuilding.This setting is a perfect match for a nonlinear game where you can go practically anywhere you want as soon as you get your ship.Almost no time is wasted in DQ3,no long cutscenes,tutorials or any other pace breakers,it's just you and your party against this whole world waiting for you to explore,and with the addition of a solid class system that is greatly expanded in this version,DQ3 might be the most pure fun I've ever had in a JRPG,not despite of it's simple nature,rather because of it.And couple that with an amazing twist that ties the Erdrick trilogy perfectly,i don't think it's unfair to say that this game is no less perfect than masterpieces like Chrono Trigger or FF6,and a must play for every JRPG fan

A very nice adaptation to the original NES release. I must advise people though, if you wish to avoid spoilers? Wait until they come out with 1 & 2 next year and play through them numerically to keep a few surprises in stow.

Dragon Quest 3 remake is solid. Visuals are pleasing to the eye. Keyboard controls are perfect. I can sit at my desk with my PC and play with just my keyboard with only a few buttons, and I have The Office on my PS4 on my other TV, and it's great. I haven't made it very far yet, but so far I have no issues with the game.

This game is a love letter to my childhood playing the original Dragon Warrior 3 on the NES.

If you remember when DQ3 first came out on NES, you need to get this. If you don't remember when DQ3 first came out, you need to get this.

Such a beautifully done remaster of the game. I good 50 hour playthrough, or if you want to do everything/everything a couple hundred hours should get it done.

The post-game stuff is decent too.

Have over 55 hours in it so far - and All I am saying if this is the first time you've played the Dragon Quest Series - You're going to love this game and the others you can play such as DQ8 (PS2 Emulate) or DQ11 - after I beat this I am going to play DQ5 on (English Translation on PS2 Emulation) my Odin 2 Max ;)

An awesome remake of an awesome game. It plays beautifully on the Deck. I can't wait for the I & II remake and would love to see IV, V, VI, and even VII remade like this.

Is a Dragon Quest without Platypunks really any good? Shockingly, yes.

Being able to change difficulty up and down without consequence is a god send. Do early game on hard to make the combat any fun whatsoever, drop it to normal when the orb quest drags in the mid game; and turn it down to easy during the end game grind.

The endgame section between getting the JRPG infinity stones and the endgame grind was delightful and truly the shot in the arm the game desperately needed
