Should Falcom switch to standalone Trails games instead of sequels?

I was looking at the amount of reviews for previous games on Steam. I've noticed how the amount of user reviews become smaller as series progresses. People say you must start from the first game (Trails in the Sky), so you get proper introduction to characters who appear in later games and so on. But as these are 50 hour fares (with missables and save bonuses in respective arcs), that is quite tremendous task. Of course, the payoff is great if you're willing to commit, but it's something that puts off many...
