A fix for the save wipe issue has just been released. We discovered that the problem only affected players who, after the recent update, returned to the main menu and exited the game from there. Those who quit the game directly during gameplay were not affected.

Unfortunately, there's no way for us to recover any lost save files. We're truly sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

Hello, Blacksmiths!

Inspired by the community feedback, we’re introducing the first small patch for Blacksmith: Ignite the Forge. Version 1.0.1 includes the following changes:

Progress is now automatically saved when returning to the main menu or exiting the game. No more lost progress (sorry!).
The sharpening minigame has been streamlined. Just a single click to start, no more holding the mouse button or accidental misclicks.
The balance of sharpening has been adjusted. It takes less time to sharpen the weapon, but it is slightly more difficult.
Adjusted daily chaos difficulty and rewards across all acts for a more consistent challenge.
Pickpocket Dwarfs got buffed.
Overall music volume has been slightly lowered.
Added weapon quality listing when forging weapons.
Fixed positions of weapons during rune etching.
Fixed bug with incorrect potion price.
Fixed bug where potions are not properly added as a forging challenge reward.
Improved visibility of dwarfs' HP in the tavern.
Fixed bug where forging templates are displayed above your inventory panel when placed on the floor.

The time has come! After more than a year in development, we’re excited (and a bit stressed) to announce that Blacksmith: Ignite the Forge is now officially released! 🛠️ And for a better start, we’re offering you a 10% release discount!

Our hammers and anvils are hot as hell from all the work! It’s been an amazing journey for our small indie team here at Floodgate Crew. We learned a ton and made new friends, but most importantly, we feel we’ve crafted a cool game for you! The spark for this project came from a simple thought: there just aren’t enough games about being a blacksmith (like really being one). We wanted to make a game where you feel that the weapons you craft actually have an impact on the game’s world—a game we’d genuinely want to play ourselves. And now, it’s here!

To everyone who played the demo, joined the closed beta, and gave us honest feedback: THANK YOU. Your insights and support helped shape this game into something we're truly proud of. We’ve come a long way thanks to YOU, craftsmen! That goes without saying.

Now, to the point!

In case it’s the first time you’re seeing our game, let’s give you a quick introduction. Blacksmith: Ignite the Forge is a mix of a simulator, strategy, and auto-battler. Become a master smith, craft various weapons, and enhance them with magical runes. Equip a team of adventurers with your hand-made tools, send them on missions, gather loot to upgrade your forge, and save the land!

So, what awaits you in the full release in terms of content? And what has changed from the demo version? Take a look at the full list:

12 ore types to experiment with alloy combinations and effects
27 weapon templates to forge, including 7 legendary weapons
5 forge tool upgrades to unlock new capabilities
Reworked rune enchanting system with 7 runes, each offering 5 magical effects
9 dwarf types, each with unique skills and personalities
3 story bosses + 4 optional mine bosses to challenge your skills
3 acts filled with smithing challenges and narrative beats
5 potions to power up your dwarves in battle
Improved visuals and environmental polish

All of that is fully localized into English, Polish, Japanese, German, French, and Simplified & Traditional Chinese!

For those who played the demo version

Due to the extensive changes, fixes, and improvements made to the release version, demo save files will not carry over. We know that’s a bit of a bummer, and we’re truly sorry for the inconvenience. That said, the final version is a completely upgraded experience compared to the demo, with new systems, mechanics, and content that should make starting over a breath of fresh air!

Anything to report?

We’ve tested the game extensively and we’re happy with its current state, but as always, bugs can sneak through (#indiegamedev all the way). If you encounter any issues or have suggestions, please post in the Steam Discussions or join us on Discord. We’ll be constantly on the lookout for your reports, and we’ll do our best to get rid of the issues ASAP!

What’s next after launch?

While we’re not planning any major content expansions at the moment, we’re definitely not done with the game. Post-launch, our focus will shift to adding extra layers of polish—that means ongoing bug fixes, quality-of-life tweaks, and audio improvements to enhance the overall experience. And after we’re finished, we’ll probably take a well-deserved break and then get to developing our next game!

To start, the publisher Awaken Realms has been on a streak, they are publishing great games and I'm impressed by their track record. As for the developer I've never heard of Floodgate Crew and can't find any information on them anywhere. This game is simple in theory, there is a bit of complexity but once you figure out how to use the hammers correctly the game is a bit easy.

Playing the demo was a poor experience, it leaves you wondering what you're doing and is honestly quite frustrating when compared to the experience of the full-game which has a great tutorial by comparison. I would highly recommend switching the demo version to the latest build and letting people run through the game up until the part where you retreat. I played for a little over an hour and a half and I am considering playing more in the future, with or without updates. The complexity seems to improve as the game goes on so I'm assuming it'll be more interesting in the future. There is a lot of usage of the mouse for people with disabilities, not very much else, It will likely be good for a wide range of audience ages and overall it's going to be a fun and inexpensive ($10) way to kill a few hours or more.

I would say to the developers you need to

- Improve tutorials in the weapon sharpening room
- Consider removing the 'cooldown' from player characters and instead make resetting refresh the characters HP. This allows people to keep exploring at greater risk.
- When you hit the '?' button the game should pop-up the most recent tutorial for the room you're in, especially in the demo version.
- Lower the default music level, it's a bit loud (I put it around 60%)
- When you go to the tempering/smacking with a hammer room move the inventory automatically to the coal spot, or create a spot for the player to store coal in that room so that the UI doesn't feel so clunky.
- Expand the skill/unique trait part of the UI, why is one of the most important parts of the units so small? I think it stems from the mechanic being improved upon over the various iterations and the UI not keeping up.

Its a good potion craft like but instead of potions you make a good sword etc.

However as it currently stands i would not call it a 100% finished game. Its more like an early excess build that is a month or 2 away from going live. As others have said the polish one is used to is partially missing. The UI is a little cluncy, no manual safes and so on. However as the price point stands right now that is still very much acceptable.

Definitely an interesting concept here, but unfortunately I didn't feel like the gameplay held up. The chore of forging (with multiple clicks for various parts of the process that have no mechanical relevance) just didn't hold up as the core loop. I think a streamlined version of the blacksmithing could make a fun minigame as part of a larger product, but as a standalone title it just didn't feel like it hit.
The UI also is a little clunky - this feels like it was designed with touch in mind, perhaps? Moving between rooms just feels like it could be quicker, an each room has so few interactions that you're constantly swapping around.

That being said, it is very clear there is a lot of love an care in the presentation. Consistent art style across the game, a pretty straightforward and quick tutorial, some physicality to the objects in how they're manipulated in the inventory an screens. I definitely will keep an eye out for any future titles from this studio.

Very short game.

Be wary, this game is very short.. i completed the game in 35 ingame days and there's nothing else to do the game just throws you out to the main menu. Once you have 3-4 teams of dwarves you just collect your daily ore, buyout the shop and slam 3-4 stages, sleep, repeat and game is finished. Definitely feels more like a demo than a full product, just warning people expecting a long game, the whole game can be finished in maybe 5-6 hours and feels like a cash grab designed to keep even the savviest player e...

Rune System

Can somone please explain to me how dose the run system works ? I'm complitly lost. and when I click on the "?" it show me how to grind weapon not put run on it :/ EDIT : on the discord I got the answer so I reWright it here - you need more blue(good) than red(bad). at the center if it's green it'll be added, if the circle is red, it wont. ( it's preaty simple after you understand that )...
