I have never played or watched any gameplay of Vampire Survivors.

I know of Gawr Gura and I like Mori Calliope's music. Every single other vtubers included in this game are entirely unknown to me.

The reason I found out about and tried this game was watching a highlighted stream of youtuber Bricky playing it and getting upset that it was actually really fun. I thought it looked interesting and gave it a try.

33 hours in 5 days. This is SO addicting ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it has a ton of great small elements like how you can roll gachas for duplicates to upgrade characters while also increasing "fandom" if unlocked, or how "collabs" and "super collabs" work, all of which were not clear to me just watching the game but have now taken up a ton of space in my mind which used to have less useful things like geometry and algebra.

God this game is fun, but will also happily kick your ass. The music is really good on each stage, the characters feel much more diverse than I'd expect when there's 38 of them, and it's got that "one more run" addictiveness that's led to me almost being exceptionally late for work a couple times already.

Oh, and EVERYTHING IS FREE. No actual microtransactions, hidden pay-to-win features, nothing. Rolling gachas is exclusively using the in game holocoins that also are used for persistent, universal upgrades - all of those can be fully refunded if you want to afford something else or make the game harder again, too.

If the gameplay seems interesting I can just about guarantee it's more interesting than you think, and it's not even a finished 1.0 release yet, which is insane.
