Report #06 : April 2025 Progress

6 MAY

Welcome, Inspectors.

Long time no see! We're still alive and kicking, and we’re bringing a lot of big (and hopefully good) news.

A bug a day keeps the dev away~

The first episode is still our main priority, but life is hard—and so is game development. We’ve encountered a lot of problems that naturally come with making a game.
But our team is working really hard to bring you the best version of Vanova’s Stories!

We also added a lot of juice to our various UI elements to give everything a bit more energy.

Everything is better when it moves.

Testing the Second Investigation

The second investigation is done! But now we need to test it to make sure there’s nothing that could stop you from enjoying it.
Nothing major, but when working with a lot of elements, small issues can creep in—things you wouldn’t expect or even think were possible.

I mean, technically we are a small game… so it fits?

Cleaning the Third Investigation

All the graphic assets for the third and final investigation are done. Maps, characters, and clues—everything’s ready.
Now we just need to add a little bit of game developer magic to tie it all together.

Yes, this is a serious episode. Trust us.

Next Objective: Releasing the Game

Yes—finally! The game is coming out on the 12th of this month!

You’ll be able to play the first episode, and the next ones will arrive over the following months as free updates.

We’re so excited to finally show you the work we’ve done over the past few months. We hope you’re as interested as we are happy!

Sound on stream?

Hello! I tried to stream the demo during SNF as the game looks super fun/cool, but sound was almost imperceptible despite OBS recognizing it. I first thought it was an OBS issue but other games worked perfectly so i'm wondering whether there's a big or something. On my side, the sound was a bit weak compared to usual games/content, too. I thought i'd share so that the team would be aware in case they can fix it....

Report #05 : December 2024 Progress

Welcome, Inspectors.

We are excited to welcome you at the start of this year, which promises many great things, the best of which is the release of the game (yes, really!).

Tutorial

The tutorial is complete. We are now in the debugging phase to ensure everything works smoothly for an upcoming demo. We’re waiting for the last issues to be resolved, like characters showing up where they shouldn't, before presenting it.

Beginnings are always humble.

Sound Implementation

We have started implementing the various music tracks and sounds sent to us by our partner. We’ve chosen to use a dynamic sound system.
Each inspector will have their own instrument, which will blend into the music as soon as they enter the room.
It’s a metaphor for the idea that everyone brings their own energy, and together, we can create the most beautiful symphony. It’s poetic.

Yes, it’s a bit hard to convey sound through an image, but imagine a great tune.

Investigation 03

The first character sketches have been completed. We’re now in a more... serious environment? A good outfit is essential, though everyone manages to add their own... personal touch. Let’s say that.

Aren’t they serious?

The next goals will be:

- Finish the dialogues for Investigation 03
- Continue progress on Investigation 02
- Work on the missing graphic elements

Report #04 : November 2024 Progress

9 DIC 2024

Welcome, Inspectors.

In this snowless winter, we present the various advancements of Vanova's Stories.

Tutorial

The tutorial is almost complete. All the graphical assets and narrative elements have been created and implemented.
We’ve prepared everything to ensure our future inspectors are ready for action… Well, we hope so.

A list of responsibilities right from the start.

Investigation 02

The final designs of the characters have been completed, and their animations have been implemented.
The missing elements include the backgrounds for the investigation and the programming of new mechanics.
All of these will be added in the coming weeks.

A new character with a peculiar detail. It’s up to you to figure out which one (Hint: He really likes its color).

Investigation 03

Pre-production for the final investigation has started. For now, we are focusing on the narrative and the various elements that make up the hypothesis.
All we can say is that the inspectors will face a foe of immense, immense proportions.

The fun part of game balancing.

Our objectives for the month, amidst the various celebrations, are:

- Completion of the tutorial
- Progress on Investigation 02
- Writing the dialogues for Investigation 03

3D search?

Softlock

When I speak to an NPC, then show them one of my notes, usually things are fine. But when I show them the note at the top of my list, the game boots me back to the scene of the background, with no characters on it. Nothing is clickable except the left/right arrows, so I can't do anything, not even close the game. I've tried this more than once with different NPCs....
