A streamer by the name of Bataneye made a really nice video (I'm not affiliated with him in anyway, I just like his videos).

To win in Choo Choo Survivor 2 I recommend going a bit slower when you start your run, blowing everything up to collect resources (trees don't drop any resources) and then upgrade your locomotive. My strategy is to upgrade my primary weapon power a bit and then immediately get scavenger upgrades to increase the odds of getting more resources from certain structures and buildings that yield resources. I then get an OTR upgrade if I've gotten a survivor or I just put more emphasis on upgrading my primary weapon!

If your run doesn't have any city section then you may find that you are not getting enough resources to become uber powerful. In that case keep your survivors and when you get the survivor carriage at about one third into your run then do the survivor carriage scavenger upgrades, this will allow your train to generate resources at regular intervals!

It's optional, but I recommend fighting and beating the Relic Keeper at about halfway in the run. Doing so will allow you to install another auxiliary system on your locomotive so you could have the modified cow catcher and fire breather (Boba the dragon....), or fire breather and the lightning rod (awesome and stuns zombies)!
