Decided to give this game one last run with the boys before moving on.

It's a pretty niche fighting game. If you're coming in expecting something like For Honor or Soulcalibur, lower your expectations — this is more like Jedi Academy sword duels with anime flair.

The movement is fluid (most of the time), and fights can feel really good... when both players actually want to duel.
Unfortunately, sometimes people just dash around endlessly or spam light attacks hoping to catch a whiff punish. Welcome to online swordplay.

There's a style system (slash, stance change, you know the drill), but the effectiveness of some styles are questionable. Vanguard vs Phalanx feels like a fever dream sometimes.
Also the hitboxes. Yeah. Expect a few "how did that hit?" or "that totally connected!" moments per match.

Graphics-wise, it's showing its age, but it’s still stylish. Characters look like they came from a lost PS3 era anime brawler, but it works.

The community is... alive? Barely. You’ll probably have better luck joining the Discord and organizing matches than waiting in quickplay. But if you do find a good match, it is fun. Not necessarily deep, but fun. Just don’t expect ranked ladders, balance patches, or tournaments. Those days are long gone.

If you can get it on sale, and you enjoy dueling games — especially with a "style over meta" mindset — it’s worth it.

Would rate this game 7.5/10. It's like an old katana — flawed, a little rusty, but still sharp if you know how to use it.

Best played with a controller and a slight grudge.
