I had mixed feelings about this one. The central mechanic of creating a soundtrack for the game by interacting with the monoliths you encounter is the highlight, and the sounds you produce will appeal to fans of the music on labels like Cryo Chamber - the drones, pads, metallic sounds, echoes, groans, and industrial thumps all sound great. However, the environments themselves feel very amateurish in places, especially in the ruined town. The colour pallettes used are generally well chosen and moody, but some of the buildings and textures are a bit basic in a way that doesn't just feel down to the PSX aesthetic. In addition, due to the sparseness of the environments, I did feel that some of the less-interesting areas dragged on a little too long. Finally, and this might just be a personal taste, but I didn't think the giant robots that show up in a few places really suited the general vibes - they stood out too much in the desolation of the rest of the game and for me at least, made the environments less mysterious. I don't think it's a terrible experience, and I did enjoy the audio, I just felt there are better walking sim experiences out there. I'd leave a neutral review if I could.
