Why do people say New Vegas is better? Maybe I have a bad taste in my mouth, because I made mistakes in NV and wound up with the Legion.

The Enclave is a way cooler enemy than the Institute and the Legion. I really thought about joining, if it weren’t for knocking off my friends. This game has so much in it, and I barely scratched the service. Gruesome exploding corpses, slavery, cannibalism, betrayal, honor and low life scum. The factions were so well represented, and there are so many of them. Even the children had a place in this game. It’s quite amazing. I don’t think it could be made today, so hopes the rumored remake is real and we can step back in one day.

I panicked to play it because my PC keeps wanting me to update to windows 11 and I read this only works on windows 10.

Negatives – Age, although with a few mods it aint so bad, crashes… my god I was tapping that quicksave all the time. So many crashes. Interiors… Man it is bleak when you’re in a vault, subway, or inside anything like Rivet City. And that is pretty much 80% of the game. Brutal tunnels where you shoot and press W and hope you don’t get lost.

I’m so happy I went back and played, after so many hours in FO4 I can see why people were disappointed now… although I still like that game.

Never played this game before this month. I have personally never finished a Bethesda game, only ever got about halfway through a handful of them before getting bored and giving up. I much prefer the Fallout setting when compared to the setting of the other Bethesda games I've played (Oblivion back when it came out on the PS3, Skyrim when it released on PC, and Starfield at release on PC as well.)

However the game has aged rather poorly and it is full of bugs and strange technical issues that will require you to spend at least an hour modding / tweaking with files to get it running properly. If you're willing to put up with that, then an entertaining albeit short main story awaits. I know there is plenty of side content and DLC to do, but I found the gameplay to be rather boring and the story a little bit silly / predictable, so I don't really have any incentive to continue playing the post-game.

I did enjoy becoming an unstoppable laser rifle wielding demigod, and that alone kept my attention through the sluggish second half which requires trekking into the far reaches of the wasteland, slowly.

I'm sure this game was amazing when it first came out, but it shows its age and I probably would not have gotten this if I had to pay any more than $3 for it. But at the price, you can't go wrong, and it's a classic that is worth experiencing.

Great game, I beat it multiple times over the years. I wanted to play it again for achievements and they still haven't added any after all of these years to the steam version. Thumbs down for that.
