Hey Survivors,

Since the release of 1.29 has been delayed for quite some time, we felt it would be appropriate to provide a status report. Again, we sincerely apologize for the radio silence. We needed time to gather the necessary information on progress, plans, and beyond. Our Brand Manager, Scotty, went on stream last week to talk about it a little; you can find the short version of the stream here, and the full version below:

1.29 UpdateAs Scotty mentioned on the stream, the delay of the 1.29 update was a necessary step for us. The key reason behind this is that we needed extra time for stabilizing and optimizing server performance and the game itself. This is why our programmers are dedicating additional time to resolving technical shortcomings that have previously impacted gameplay with performance issues.

We are planning to have an experimental update this Friday, and more in the coming weeks. We’d like to invite you to join us in testing the new build. As an incentive, we are bringing back the much-beloved “Many Cars” servers on PC and Xbox experimental branches.

DayZ Badlands Development
The release of DayZ Badlands is still planned for 2026. While we’re not ready to disclose the exact release date yet, we want you to know that the team continues to make steady progress.

What’s Next for This Year and Beyond

We will continue to support this year’s seasonal events. Our Halloween Event was deployed last week, on October 21st, while the Christmas event is already waiting in the wings.

Now, on to the next! The spooky season is already around the corner. Prague is descending into the state of Chernarus with morning fog and chills in the air. The Halloween event is back, starting today, October 21st, until November 7th. Here’s what you can expect from the event:

• Halloween variants for infected: The Mummy, Jack O' Infected, the Witch

• The Demon Goat

• Leaf Crowns (may vary from map to map)

• Decaying Player Characters

• Halloween related items (Witch hat, witch hood, pumpkin helmet, cauldron, and more)
