- Player weapons now ignore obstacles when targeting nearby enemies - this guarantees that Raid enemies in Critical Tasks are targeted properly
- Fixed a bug where Nightmode increased the enemy quantity by a doubled amount
- Fixed descriptions for some assignment objectives, displaying the wrong information
- Fixed a visual glitch with the toxic puddles around Parasite enemies in Critical Task & wiggle animation
- Fixed another issue with achievements not being unlockable when switching from prelude to main game
- Fixed an issue where the mouse cursor changes when toggling fullscreen

In the last few months, we have been hard at work implementing a crucial new feature for the game the "Critical Tasks", as well as many bug fixes and optimizations. In this blog post, we'll dive deep into the thrilling world of critical tasks, the rewards they offer, and the three different task categories that await you.


After you've successfully terminated a mini boss, you're not just racking up points and achievements. You're also gaining valuable intel about the enemy's movements and plans. This intel is crucial for our fight against the Xenos, and it triggers an immediate critical task.


Once the intel is in your hands, you'll be tasked with completing a critical task that takes place at a random location across the map. But there's a catch – you'll need to act fast because each comes with a timer.

The completion of these critical tasks is not in vain. Upon successful execution, you'll be generously rewarded with a crate and bonus effects that can turn the tide of battle in your favor.

Let's take a closer look at the three different task categories and the bonuses they offer:

Extraction:

Task: Your mission here is to retrieve valuable gear, extract vital supplies, or obtain alien technology that could give us an edge in this war.

Bonus Effect: On successful completion, you'll receive a magnetic effect that allows you to collect all nearby items at once. Talk about efficient looting!

Raid:

Task: Raid missions involve eliminating alien parasites or destroying their jammer and rifts. These objectives are essential to weaken the Xenos' foothold on Earth.

Bonus Effect: Completing a raid task leads to the satisfying outcome of wiping out all minion enemies in your vicinity. The perfect way to clear the battlefield!

Salvage:

Task: Salvage missions require you to hold your position until evacuation is secured, intel is protected, or survivors are rescued from the clutches of the Xenos.

Bonus Effect: Successfully holding your ground grants you a temporary buff that increases your XP and Aether gain. The longer you endure, the more you'll reap!


Now that you're armed with this valuable information, it's time to prepare for your next encounter with the Xenos. Be ready to adapt to any of these critical tasks as they can arise at any moment. The fate of Earth depends on your courage and quick thinking.

In Defend Earth: Xenos Survivors, the fight never ends, but with critical tasks, you have the chance to gain the upper hand and emerge victorious. So gear up, Agents, and prepare for the unexpected. Earth is counting on you!

- Fixed environment in Area 51 where some obstacles didn’t block projectiles

Hello Agents!

Over the last few weeks we've been working on a demo of the game, as well as a feature that will allow you to export and import your save game to make it compatible with the demo version of the game. We are very keen to make the game more accessible to everyone and to grow our community in order to gather valuable feedback and improve the game, and the demo is a step in that direction.

We've also been working on some localization issues and some user interface bugs.

We've also started work on a major update that will include a major change to the core mission loop, which we hope will be a fun addition to the game. However, it is still too early to talk too much about this feature. We will keep you updated on our progress over the coming week.

we have a new update for you! As always, we appreciate your feedback and support as we work diligently to improve your experience.


We've introduced Augmentations for the Vitality module: Protection and Tenacity.

Protection

Generates a shield equal to 25% of the maximum health which regenerates after taking no damage for 10 seconds.

Tenacity

After taking a fatal hit, the agent is invulnerable for 5 seconds. Tenacity has a cooldown of 5 minutes.



Since the release of Area 51 and Vol'nar, we've made a series of important modifications. Notably, in regards to some aspects, like values for Vol'nar and projectile size of certain other enemies have been adjusted. We have also revised the damage metrics from final bosses for a better game balance.

Moreover, we have made some subtle changes to the user interface and color coordination, ensuring that your gameplay is as user-friendly as ever.

As always we've been hard at work on squashing bugs. Issues related to the range value for specific elements have been resolved. Achievements for certain augmentations are now functioning as they should, and a glitch that was preventing the unlocking of new locations after progression has been corrected.

Also, we have fixed a number of localization typos and inconsistencies.

Hello Agents,

We've picked up strange anomalies around Area 51 in Nevada. The anomalies are unlike anything we've seen before, and they're causing some serious problems. The power grid in the area has been knocked out, and there have been reports of Xeno sightings. We need you to get to Area 51 and find out what's going on.




We've created a new level set at Area 51, a top-secret military base that is rumored to be home to alien technology. This level is full of challenges, including new enemy types, environmental hazards, and a boss fight against the powerful Vol'nar.


Void Hunters are Vol'nar's elite units. They are heavily armored and wield powerful energy weapons.

Void Hunters are a serious threat to any player who encounters them. Their laser attack is powerful and can deal a lot of damage, especially if you're caught in the blast radius.




Vol'nar is the final boss enemy of the new level "Area 51". She is a massive creature with powerful ranged abilities.

Vol'nar's normal attack is to shoot projectiles at your from a distance. These projectiles are fast and can deal a lot of damage, so it's important to stay out of their way. Her special attack is to fire a laser at your from a distance. This laser is powerful and can deal a lot of damage, especially if you're caught in the blast radius. After a delay, the laser rotates towards the you.

Vol'nar is a challenging boss, but she can be defeated with careful planning and execution. Her projectiles are easy to dodge if you're paying attention, and her laser attack can be avoided by staying behind cover or timing your movement correctly.

Hello Agents!

In our latest update, we are thrilled to unveil the addition of a set of brand new Augmentations for the Lightning Gauntlet. This powerful weapon enhancement brings electrifying capabilities to your arsenal, allowing you to harness the raw energy of lightning and strike down enemies.

The Augmentations are:

Voltage, the lightning will jump from the initial target to additional enemies, allowing you to chain your attacks and damage multiple foes at once.

Jolt will stun enemies temporarily, giving you a strategic advantage by immobilizing them and creating openings for follow-up attacks.

We are excited to see what builds you will come up with with these new augmentations.

- Reworked Health bar to increase visibility during combat and when behind obstacles
- Projectiles and other combat related VFX are now colored blue-ish when coming from the player and red when coming from an enemy

In this week's update, we're excited to introduce four new Augmentations for the Laser Orb weapon and the Reload module.

Laser Orb weapon
We're introducing two powerful weapon augmentations: Star and Pulsar. The Star augmentation grants you multiple lasers that orbit around the player, damaging everything they touch. On the other hand, the Pulsar augmentation combines all laser beams into one powerful beam that deals significant damage to everything in front of you.

Star augmentation Pulsar augmentationThe second big addition is the Reload module augmentations.

Reload module
The Discharge augmentation reduces the weapon cooldown by 25% for 5 seconds every 30 seconds.
The Adrenaline augmentation decreases the weapon cooldown by 25% when your health is below 25%.

To complement these augmentations, we've added 2 new achievements for you to unlock!

Furthermore, we've made several quality-of-life improvements, including enhancements to the UI and UX of the assignment list in the Research Facility. These changes should make it easier to read and navigate through the list.

Hello Agents!

Today's update is a huge milestone for us, as after 6 months of development, we feel finally ready to leave Early Access. First of all, we want to thank all our early supporters who provided us with valuable feedback. Without their constant feedback, this would not have been possible.

On an additional note, we want to point out that leaving Early Access does not mean we will halt development. Instead, we are committed to a tight update schedule, releasing updates on a weekly or biweekly basis, with the frequency depending on the complexity of the content.

Prior to this update, we've implemented 10 agents, 3 main and 3 urgency levels, 10 weapons, 15 modules, 4 augmentations, 10 enemies, and 3 bosses. Additionally, we've added the Research Facility, which enables you to unlock all the additional content by completing various assignments.

But now, let's talk about the update that follows with this release. For the past couple of weeks, we've focused immensely on providing additional content for the early-mid game. This includes 8 new augmentations, which are the biggest addition in this update.

We've also built a new level in which you can complete various urgency missions in a desert environment. Your research team has discovered Xenos intrusions in various deserts around the world.

So that's it for this week's update, and once again, we cannot thank our supporters enough, as you've made this transition possible.
