Blaming playing this on someone I know Bromadthenomad goofy guy on twitch, who showed it off and was playing it looked like a lotta fun. Honestly was, if you love castlevania or metroid or both, you'll like this one its got plenty of secrets playing through the same level you can end up taking so many different paths.

That and weapons yea they have a hell of a lot of different uses, such as grappling hooks, seeing an idiot moving above you and shooting fire balls? Pull his ass down and beat him to the ground....or freeze him for a free one shot kill.

But yea great game glad I played now just gonna kinda go do 100% don't mind me really hope they make more games like these always good to turn the brain off and play for a good few hours.

A really solid Castlevania style game. Co-op is a great touch and if you can get someone locally to play with is a great time. Playing solo is also fun though, switching between characters feels fast an the varied moves offer a lot of things you can do. I didn't realise what most of the tools could do until I watched a speedrun, I should have experimented more with the tools. Biggest annoyance is going for the 100% though, the end grind is really painful searching the maps you've previously explored. Game could really use a map system instead of the weird compass it went for. It's a fine idea for the first play through, but afterwards could really just become a proper map. Here's hoping to a sequel of some sort.

I tried to like this game but.. it is a pain thanks to some design decisions:

- No double jump. This is VERY ANNOYING as levels have many sightly-higher-than-what-you-can-reach platforms. Workarounds?
- A power-up which throws a temporal platform DOWNWARDS in front of you
- A power-up which, if used while airborne throws you BACKWARDS
- A 'chain' power-up to hang from some ceilings.
All very cumbersome. Just put a damn double jump!

- Bad sub weapons. Some sub weapons feel constrained or dedicated mostly to specific situations (like opening special doors). Sub weapon ammo is not that great either (upgrades do not help much) You end up using your main attacks mostly

- Limited attack directions. Normal attacks only go forward (like 8 bit games). Later on, a power-up allows you to shoot (weak) bullets.. upwards... Yay!

- Sword play issues, Some enemies have got small hit boxes: which makes you get very close to attack them. If an enemy just walks into you, you get hit as you were too close to begin with. And there's no dash-back / evade skill

- Gun play issues. Bullets are weak. And maybe that's expected but... bullets also do not hit crawling enemies and you cannot jump while shooting (jump first then shoot..

- No gun reload button. To reload, you MUST use up all your bullets... Sometimes reload will pick you at bad moments

- Useless special attack. Fill a gauge and shoot a special SLOOOW bullet... which most likely won't hit a boss... Then the gauge fills so slowly you can't even think about using it twice on boss battles

- No minimap / position tracking. You HAVE TO know where you're going, because there's no minimap while playing a level. A 'compass' feature points you to powerups ONLY IF you are close enough.

- Checkpoints are not saved. If you 'reset the level' you return to your latest checkpoint but... if you exit the game (to resume playing later) checkpoints are not saved.

- No exit level option: to exit a level you either WALK ALL the way to the start / finish or quit the game

- Pit-falls. Some falls are fatal, even if 'there's another room below' in that level

- No sense of progression. There are a few power-ups to pick but those do not make a big difference on how many hp / armor / attack power you have

- Sword girl has less hp / takes more damage. That's feels odd... why not make hp equal for both characters?

- Boss battles... are a mixed bag. Some feel easy (once you know what to do) and others will have you re-trying over and over. You don't die at boss battles because of raw difficulty... but flawed battle designs.

- Revive on Casual mode. You die on a boss fight, then you can re-enter the boss room with your other char, revive your fallen partner and resume the fight. Bosses sometimes even keep the damage you've made them... So.. DEVS KNOW boss battles are annoying and they even 'grant you' this handicap. You end with a 'fighting' char and a 'revive fighter' char.... not fun.


This is a shame! The game has some good ideas but the execution was messy. Was the game rushed or what happened here? There is room for improvement here... but maybe changes are not even coming.

I'd say, skip this one
