Developers Talk Biome-Survival & Early Access!

Hello, Defiers!

Wouldn't you believe it, we're already nearly a month into the new year! Our team is currently testing a small patch that will hit you within a couple weeks to continue smoothing out the combat experience. Progressing alongside this, we're deep in production of our Sisters of the Deep update coming early Q2. We're excited to start sharing more teasers of that content in coming months.

For now, we return to our audio series to discuss another feature of the roadmap[www.dawnofdefiance.com]! For your weekday listening, check-out this episode where community manager Monday chats with Game Director Tony and Art Director Dwight about "biome-based survival," as well as some general thoughts surrounding Early Access. The YouTube video is marked with chapters for anyone looking to skim! In this episode, we address:

Our thought process around picking features for our roadmap, and how we use player feedback without losing vision for our game.
Why select features are or aren't on our roadmap.
Why we chose to structure our updates around the biomes.
How physical map changes may affect existing players.
Our PvE design for biomes and teasing environmental hazards
The purpose of the locked portion of the map.

We started this series to help you all have a better understanding of our vision for each planned roadmap feature and to provide transparency on our development in between major content updates. So if you are itching for info, please take a listen:

Can't get 3-star animals!

Hi folks. I've been enjoying this game a lot. However, I have encountered a huge problem which is hindering my progression. I'm using a hardwood bow with steel arrows, and despite consistently getting headshots, I can't get higher than a 2-star animal. I read a post where someone had the same issue, and they managed to solve it by verifying the game files... but that hasn't worked for me. I'm really stuck as I need 3-star bucks and wolf hearts from 3-star wolves - without this, I can't move forward in the...

Cannot launch the game : apparently already running...

...but no, since I wanna launch it. Seriously guys it's been months since I have this issue. Apparently it's an Epic problem, but I have other games that use EGL dependencies but no problem here, so the issue is probably not on my side.

Improvement suggestions.

Hi, a few improvement suggestions which I'm sure the dev have thought of but I want to just give my two cents worth. 1. Food. Obviously being able to loot the spiced and infused food means we should be able to cook them in the future? 2. Arrows selection. can we have a shift scroll function to select the arrows to be used? I have a few bundles of copper, steel and fire arrows. It will be great to be able to select them. Also, if you have a separate quiver tool to keep the arrows, it will do so much to eas...

Delete Wolves or Delete your game.

Wolves in the tutorial are beyond stupid. This games start is soooo bad and the primary thing is wolves are broken. they two shot you, it doesn't matter if you block, your character swings in a straight line, so you cant strafe or effectively dodge, or kite. if you try to swing you pretty much get hit and again, they two shot you. The tutorial is pretty much a nightmare to go through. Edited to not be ragey....
