This is probably one of my favorite 2d sonic games, just based on the levels alone. Most of the bosses are alright, and become easier if you take advantage of the chaos emerald abilities. However, the final boss in story mode is just the worst. Its easily a 10 minute fight with no checkpoints, and its incredibly difficult.

After beating the main story you unlock Trip (the new character of this game) and she is basically the best character to play as. You get amy's double jump, and can climb walls like knuckles. And when you use the super form, she turns into a dragon thing. Its a lot of fun, except for her story mode, you basically just play through the whole game again but the levels are much harder. I found it less fun to go through the first act because i was constantly being stopped by enemies. I'm putting the game down for now, and I might go back to play the rest of trips story, though i've heard that the last boss, as well as the true final boss are just the worst.

Aside from that, you can collect gold medals to buy cosmetics for your battle mode robot. Its alright but definitely not the highlight of the game.

Overall i think this is a great 2d sonic game, and i love the visuals and how it feels to play the game, but the bosses and trips story are definitely the low points. Its a great pickup on sale!

All I can say is that bosses are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. The final bosses have multiple fights yet no checkpoints.

Sonic Superstalling for time. Terrible level design, worse boss fights, even worse music and a very plastic feel to the visuals. Mania was infinitely better than this game in every aspect. The single good thing this game gave us is Trip, shes adorable and i hope she becomes a part of the cast. Overall, please either give us Sonic Rush games or Sonic Advance games ported to PC instead of this Sonic 4.5 knockoff.
