I first played the original Live A Live many years ago and beat the game in 2021. I never expected it'd get the HD2D remake treatment and here I am, having 100%'d it on Steam years later, and it was worth the wait. They really did make the game better in every way. All the little annoyances from the original were somewhat mitigated or made more manageable, the voice acting is fantastic across the board, and the new content feels rewarding to experience. This was a very ambitious game when it first released, and the new and improved version of it is a blast to play. I can only hope other Square-Enix SNES rpgs get the same treatment (especially Treasure of the Rudras and Bahamut Lagoon, I would DIE). I absolutely love this game and it's soundtrack.
