Pros:
- Story.
- Cut scenes are really cool!
- You can play clan mechs.
- Beautiful maps.
- Automated repair bays.
- Interesting missions with laser sensors.
- Cockpit interface looks better than in MWO! Especially MASC.

Cons:
- The game often crashes
- You can't restart mission with coop teammates! You should load saved game and invite people back again!
- Choosing a pilot for invited coop players is just sadistic UX.
- Early maps looks better than late ones.
- You can take ammo crate and it will fulfil entire team ammo immediately. Are you serious?
- When you choose to leave Smoke Jaguars, you can't use Inner Sphere mechs!
- Physics (especially weapons) much worse than in Mercenaries!
- Market is almost useless. Missions are not forcing you to change the configuration of your mechs.
- Too much money you have.
- The components market doesn't remember what you bought last time, so you have to constantly scroll to the SRM ammo for example.
- Small 40T enemy mechs with elite tag can take 6-10 volleys from several assault mechs in close combat and stay alive. Usually Elite is about pilots, not mech armour capacity.
- Bots are really idiotically stupid. They're using AC vs ranged targets and air strike units, they use AC very rarely. Bots are shooting LRM 20 on small tanks instead of important targets.
- A lots of annoying story dialogs in battle you can't skip. We have great cut scenes, we have detailed briefings! and... characters are talking all the time during a battle and even when teammate mech is blowing.

Honestly, we still spend more time in Mercenaries 5!

So I find this one tuff to give a positive or negative review ultimately this will be negative. First the game run fine for most of the time with my computer setup. There are times unfortunately that the game will freeze for a min or two and start back up. My current setup is Ubuntu 25.04, Ryzen 5800X3D, 128 gigs of ram, 7900XTX and NVME drives. So there really should be no reason the game in battle will freeze up.
Next would be the story line the Clan story line was done with Mech Warrior 2 and Ghost Bear. The stories of the MW2 games compared to MW5 is better and kinda all ready been told. I do like the fact that there is parts in the game you can choose your or own direction. Mind you very limited but a nice change compared to the other MW games. The story does feel short and honestly could have been fleshed out a little more.
I understand that the developers moved from UE4 to UE5 and it does look good. But UE4 in MW5 looked really good as we’ll. I have seen some issues with graphics in game play that the predecessor looked better at. Honest I think if they would have just left this game under UE4 it would have been fine. But it does not feel (and could be wrong) that there will not be anymore updates moving forward. Also I find the major lack of customization a pain as I am not a jump jet fan and would have loved to remove them for extra heat sinks.
With that being said I would loved to see MW/Battletech rebooted and started from the start of Battletech. Start from the Star League and grow from that there is nothing wrong with starting over. As this game stands at the moment I would give it 2.5/5 compared to MW5.

The concept is really good for MechWarrior, but the optimization is horrendously bad. I have a higher end PC and it runs like dog sh!t no matter how i change the settings. I hope they run an optimization patch and I might change my review. However, for now, I don't recommend it in it's current state.
