After fixing a couple last minute bugs and adding in a few additional details we have launched Esport Tactics on Early Access!

Esport Tactics will be at a lower price throughout early access so early adopters get a preferential discount!

We are still working on Steam Workshop integration and other features for our next content release, we are sorry we could not have it for early access release but it will be coming in the future. The first steam workshop implementation will be customized player databases and we'd like to expand the workshop to include other game changes but that may add on to our time frame for Steam Workshop

We've been working hard on some recent developments on Esport Tactics the past few months!

I started early preparations for Steam Workshop functionality. It was figured I wanted steam workshop to be a feature in the future, so I've prepared the first feature in development: Player databases!

With this feature you can create a simple text file of a player database for who will be available in Esport Tactics franchise. The code for loading a custom file of the player list is finished but steam workshop integration will take more time and maybe not available at early access launch.

This custom player database will be great for anyone who wants to add real Esport players, themselves, or their friends and family to the game. This will also be good for non-english speakers who want players in their native language or country.

We will create a guide on how to create a proper player database file when we launch the feature.

Other features we added included finishing our sponsor list and adding a player move speed option as some suggested the players moved too slow. So you can speed up turns much easier now.

Unfortunately I also ran into a few bugs I still have to fix before Esport Tactics is ready for launch. We also need to extend the standard database a bit more to give a bit of variety.

Don't worry, we're almost done with the Early Access version.

We are now adding the last required features to the Esport Tactics code so it is ready for Early Access sometime early next year.

Some of the new inclusions required are

• Finishing the master sponsor list and balancing it
  
• Doubling the database of players
  
• Adding more achievements
  
• Increase player move simulation speed (adjustable setting)
  
• Odds and ends on the back-end to make sure everything runs smoothly

We have not received any new bug reports from the playtest, but we still want any you find fixed! Please post in the dedicated Steam Discussions board for bugs, or in the bug report channel on our Discord[discord.gg]

Hello all,

We have good news coming to Esport Tactics, a lot has happened since the playtest launched. And we are approaching a release date.

The elephant in the room

As most gamers have seen, back in September the Unity3D CEO announced that the company would be changing their fee system to where every game sale unity would take a cut. A deeper look into it had some developers speculating there could be a charge to every download or install of a game, not to mention this could effect free games or potentially demos. This decision could have made Esport Tactics unfeasible.

Unity's reversal

Later the decision was reversed, but I did not see the reversal until today because the damage was already done and the reversal was quietly send out on their blog. This means Esport Tactics is back on the development trail!

State of playtest and Early Access release date

I'm proud to announce we are approaching Early Access, I wanted to take some time as gamers played the playtest and reported bugs. There have been no bugs issued since our last playtest update in June, so we are asking players to please submit any remaining bugs in our Discord server[discord.gg] under the bug-reports channel, or the Esport Tactics Playtest Steam Discussion "Playtest bug reporting"

Once we fix any newly reported bugs, or if a set amount of time passes without getting new bug reports, we will announce our release date. The playtest will then end and it will no longer be accessible. Goal is by end of 2023 as I planned originally.

As for when new features will be added throughout the Early Access phase, I am not sure on the timeframe but be assured the game will be worked on periodically and Discord is the best place to get quick information about Esport Tactics progress or ask me questions.

Lastly I would like to apologize for the lack of communication on progress for Esport Tactics. I am currently working 2 jobs and finding time to manage this project and when the Unity fee news hit I almost abandoned the game, but I did not. I decided to wait to see if Unity would reverse course, and they did. So Esport Tactics is on track for a release again :D

First off, thank you to all the wishlists we have been building since our last update. We're so happy you all still believe in Esport Tactics.

The playtest build is currently being setup with Steam integration and should arrive soon for open applications. Esport Tactics is built by a sole developer with help from a sound engineer so we overestimated our abilities to launch in 2022. 2023 is the new goal for Early Access.

There were also far more bug fixes than we expected.

We apologize for the delay but please know the game is still being developed. As for the lack of updates, life and illness has gotten in the way the last couple months. We will do better in the future.

Hi everyone, we'd like to update everyone on progress we've made on Esport tactics.


We're excited to announce we are planning on launching an Open Playtest for anyone who wants to try out Esport Tactics before we hit Early Access. It is planned for sometime in December. You will be able to request access through the Esport Tactics Store page.

The playtest will get regular updates on bug fixes so please report any bugs in our discord or on our pinned post on the steam discussion forum. The playtest will end once we launch in Early Access early next year. We apologize for not having Esport Tactics ready for launch in 2022 like originally planned.


Here is a sneak peak at our postseason screen, currently you can spend money and reputation on scouting for a youth player. The more you invest into your scout the better player you get, but if you don't invest enough you won't scout anyone!

• Now when a player contract is up, a player retires or there is an important alert you have to resolve that before going to management screen after a match
  
• Started adding career kills and career deaths to match stat compiler, so the game will track both season stats and career stats
  
• You can now view the enemy team's entire roster before a match
  
• New title screen!
  
• Cleaner, more scalable code for match stat compiler
  
• Added ability to go to the title screen from the management menu
  
• Created postseason feature: scouting
  
• After postseason player continues on to the next season

Here with another progress update on the state of Esport Tactics.

We recently added in over a dozen team jersey combinations so you can customize your team even more.

You will be able to view the next match date, who you're playing against and their win-loss record on the game screen. We plan on adding more to this preview in the future

Also more back-end updates to the code:

-Recovered health per will scale based on difficulty in addition to Recovery stat
-Menus will have sound effects while navigating through them
-Ranking screen will now do smarter sorting
-AI Pathfinding update to make the game more challenging
-More bugs fixed

We would like to apologize for the lack of updates on our Steam page, we have had many unexpected hurdles with our team in the last few months but now can update everyone on the state of the game. There has been a TON of progress on Esport Tactics in the last couple of months, including the following new features:

-2 new teams in your starting league, bringing it up to 8 total (including yours)
-New music!
-Updated contract system
-Dozens of players added
-Simulate game option
-Steam Achievements!
-Player retirement feature
-A robust help menu (see part of it below)
-Countless bug fixes

We still hope to have our early access launch ready by the end of the year but it might be delayed until slightly after. If the release has to be delayed we will at least try to get an open beta by the end of the year.
