AI voices. Refunded. Also the indications for attacks and sound design are a major step down from Super Punch Out and Wii Punch Out.

If you plan on playing through the story on normal difficulty, then you will enjoy your experience, especially now that it only costs $3 because of the summer sale. The bad news is when you decide to go for the harder difficulties.

If you look at the most recent Punch Out game on the Wii, It is a puzzle game solved with punches and timing, so far from what I have seen is there are no puzzle elements. Sure Punch Out requires learning move-sets but there are secret moves that can lead to a huge advantage if done correctly, like when fighting King hippo, you can time a belly jab and get a star for a powerful punch, but this game doesn't have that.

This game is fun but some of the most important elements are gone in this game. For example, There is no stamina bar making it completely viable to spam punches against the opponents guard which even does damage in the normal and easy modes. There are also no strategies or timings to learn to give you an advantage.

One of the achievements in this game is to beat a difficult boss on the hardest difficulty, unfortunately the hardest difficulty is unfun and time consuming. What I discovered is for that fight, you can only land 4 total punches against him after dodging his combos, the rest get blocked which do nothing on this difficulty, leading to low damage and lots of combos you have to dodge, on top of that your basic punches do around 1/50th of their total health-bar while one missed dodge easily does 1/3rd of damage to your health. Then because of the infinite stamina you just spam punches at him until you hit 4 and then just wait for the boss.

Sadly this game doesn't have the Punch Out feel that I was hoping from it, it's still a decent game but I truly think it is only worth its current price due to the sale. I haven't tried the DLC and probably won't because I doubt it fixes anything and just adds another boss or 2.

Edit: one more Quick info drop but This company is also working on a game based on the anime character Baki and it looks like it is just gonna be a reskin of this game with basically no changes.
