It does exactly what it sets out to do, delivering a short, eerie, liminal horror experience that feels like stepping into a grainy VHS tape of a nightmare. The atmosphere is spot on with unsettling sound design and environments that really capture the eerie, empty feeling of backrooms-style horror, but what it tries to be isn’t something that holds attention for long. The gameplay is minimal, and the sense of dread eventually turns into just walking through slightly different hallways. It’s great for a one-time immersive experience, but there’s not much reason to come back. If you love found-footage horror and just want to vibe in an uncanny, nostalgic horror space for a bit, it’s worth checking out, just don’t expect much beyond that.

This game shows the true reality of the backrooms. The Backrooms isn't always running from horrifying monsters. It's peaceful as well. Wandering through strange corridors and things that are very out of place, all of it's true characteristics are shown in this game. Sure it may just be a walking simulator but its liminal, strange, and has some entity appearances.

Genuinely one of my favorite games, along with the second one. Fills me with both wonder and dread.

I truly have more likes than dislikes with it, and I think it could be a lot better with some hints at a narrative. The visuals and atmosphere are great, but after a while, I started to just feel like I was wandering in a procedural generated world that might go on forever with random furniture and store supplies I only made it through the gallery, library, gym and grocery and some big rooms. I understand that its not a AI maze, and I understand the argument that the players' speculation is what makes the environment off-putting - but there needs to be some prompts or a have the camera focus at certain points at SOMETHING. A shadow, a chair falling over, far off sounds, something to make me want to keep exploring.

Played this game three years ago and it was one of the best horror games I've ever played. Came back and it is still my favorite horror game. It makes me ♥♥♥♥ myself everytime and even found new things playing it over. great game looks too real.
