Thank you for your patience, we know it's been a bummer that the Japanese localization was not part of the release build. But, the wait is over and you can now start your investigations on the Zephyr with Japanese texts.

On top of the new language, we've been working on some highly requested Quality-of-Life improvements. Here's the full changelog for you:


Medium patch adding Japanese, remappable keys, and a host of small fixes:

• Added keybindings feature: You can now remap keys in the main menu!
  
• Added Japanese translation
  
• Fixed some game logic errors (e.g. characters referring to things that didn't happen in your run)
  
• Fixed a bug where players settings weren't properly saved between sessions
  
• Fixed a bug where evidence stayed highlighted in UI when not selected
  
• Fixed a bug where the mouse cursor would fade out when it shouldn't
  
• Corrected dozens of typos in English language

We are aware that a small number of players still gets stuck starting the game. After trying a series of fixes, the next one unfortunately requires a larger rework of a core system. We're still working on it!

We can't describe how excited, exhausted, and happy we are that Between Horizons is finally coming out today.

We learned a lot ever since our first game Lacuna was released and did our best to apply all these lessons to our new game, providing you with enhanced and more unique detective gameplay. If you played Lacuna, don't expect the core gameplay loop to be the same -- you might be in for some surprises!

We're very sorry to say this, but we had to remove the Japanese localization for the release build shortly before release due to some critical issues that conflicted with our aspirations of a fantastic gaming experience in all available languages for you.

We're working hard on adding the Japanese localization back to the game as quickly as possible.

During development of Between Horizons, several milestones have been hit and celebrated internally. But the milestone of 33.000 wishlists has to be celebrated with you. Thank you everyone for your support.

Hey, everybody!

You may have noticed that we haven't shared much about ourselves or our work on Between Horizons over the last year or so. Time to bring you up to speed!


In spring of this year, we released a demo of our upcoming sci-fi detective adventure Between Horizons. Despite its favorable reception, we pulled it again about three months later for a number of reasons. If you haven't heard already, a completely revamped demo is playable at gamescom right now! You can find it in two places in Hall 10.2: the Indie Arena Booth as well as the GameUp!/saaris booth (E020g - D021g). Come check it out!

(Don't fret if you can't make it, the new demo is coming to Steam a little later.)


We recently announced our plan to join forces with legendary pixel artist 6VCR[6vcr.com] to delve into the genre of survival horror together. We are extremely excited about this project, but it has no clear timeline right now as it massively depends on the response to the upcoming crowdfunding campaign. To celebrate Lacuna's second anniversary, we released a free mini album titled Lacuna Lo-Fi, a chill remix of select tracks from the Lacuna soundtrack. You can find it on Steam, YouTube, and most streaming platforms[distrokid.com]!


Earlier this summer, a medley of the Lacuna soundtrack was featured in a video game soundtrack concert at Saarländisches Staatstheater. Believe it or not, we recently moved for the fourth time in less than four years. We swear this is the last time for a while now, as the new location is everything we could ask for. It's a very central place in Saarbrücken and just two floors underneath some good indie friends that moved in with us. Check out our break room!


These are the major developments of the past few months that we can speak on for now. We still don't know when exactly Between Horizons will be released, but we continue to aim for late 2023.

As for our plans beyond that, we currently have multiple projects lined up that may (or may not) be realized sequentially or concurrently starting this winter. We had more concrete plans already, but the federal games funding program being cut[www.gameswirtschaft.de] over night threw a massive wrench in the works.

Dear Crew,

Thank you all very much for the continued support and feedback you've provided ever since the Between Horizons demo went live in early April.

As of today, the demo is no longer available until a completely revamped version goes live. We've made this decision because the demo was no longer a good representation of the game in its current state. In fact, it never really captured the more open-ended investigation gameplay that the full version of Between Horizons will offer.

We want to fix that in the reworked demo, but we cannot provide a release date for it yet. There have already been countless additions, fixes, and upgrades to the game, a lot of them based on your invaluable feedback. However, that doesn't automatically mean that there is a release-ready slice of gameplay fit for a demo.

Between Horizons is still coming out later this year, and it's possible that the new demo won't go live much earlier than the full game.
