advertised as a succesor to fallout new vegas, but ended up worse then fallout brotherhood of steel

I really wanted to like this game, being made by Obsidian (famous for making Fallout: New Vegas and probably other things), feeling like this Fallout/Borderlands/almost Mass Effect hybrid. It has so many appealing looking locations and a lot of wacky designed people throughout the main game and dlcs. There's a good pool of odd weapons and armor that actually feel important as you'll meet and get to know all the factions and companies that make them. There's also a good amount of experimental weapons that have strange abilities like shrink rays and mind control guns, adding some unique and often hilarious fights. Some of Obsidian's humor and obscure cultural references also shine and will leave you chuckling or tipping your MoonMan Helmet to the writers. (The quest name "A Clockwork Mock Apple '' and Petunia the Plant really got me for some reason). There's a good perk and level progression system allowing for many types of playstyles. There's also several quests that actually show the consequences of your actions and change how some of the game is played. There's so many good things about this game, but there's too much wrong for it to be worth picking up, and I got this in a bundle for practically free.

Bad things, so many bad things. The enemies are really cool at first, until you figure out there's like 12 enemies in the game and just different variants of them, you want worms, space dogs, space mantis, space gorilla, or crazy humans, take your pick. The loot, there's so much in this game, but the base game has waaaay more items that have to be stolen and arent just free to pick up. There's no consequences of stealing if no one sees you (take notes kids) so it's just a minor inconvenience that happens a lot. Though the dlc does fix this by making a majority of items free for all those grubby loot goblins. The dlcs, Peril on Gorgon specifically, might be the most boring and ugly add-on for a game I've seen, and I bought Oblivion horse armor. Peril on Gorgon is just soulless, there are practically no new enemies (drugged up marauders don't count, marauders are already drugged up, that's not stereotyping and I will die on this hill), the story is so unbelievably boring with some of the stiffest acting in the game, there are very few new weapons or even armor (one of them making you be able to run faster so you can get through the dlc asap), all of the locations are not any different from the main game, the dlc takes you to another planet for 1 mission and then decides you should never leave Gorgon again (even though you really want to leave). Moral of the story, I did not like Peril of Gorgon. Murder on Eridanos reminds you that experience with a game's engine really does show, this dlc is not great BUT there's features in it that make it a more memorable experience. A classic who dunnit mystery with some pretty good twists, but this dlc is so empty, they don't do much but what they do is pretty good. I spent more time walking around to get to locations than fighting or in buildings combined, and I had armor that made me move quicker. There's a lot of new weapons that are fun to use and pretty plentiful in the world (after you spend 5 minutes running there) but this is overshadowed by the very few enemies scattered throughout the map. The dlcs fixed the main game's problem of having way too many enemies scattered throughout the world, but instead of running into enemies every 10 seconds you have to play Woody's Roundup for a few minutes if you want to fight any large groups. Also I hope you like fetch quests and kill quests, because that's 90% of what you'll be doing, though the quests that do split from this formula are pretty good. There's no morality system but the factions reputation is affect based on who you kill and help, though if you want to be pure evil and pick the "worst" choices and kill everyone you're probably gonna be put on a speedrunning leaderboard with how fast you'll get through the game, the main game and dlcs are significantly shorter if you choose to be bad, but the extra missions for being good and helping everyone live is hardly worth the effort of never talking to the npcs you saved again. This game sometimes works very well in some spots and then absolutely tanks in performance in others, having the Space's Choice edition is supposed to make it look and run better, but I think the worse lighting helped hide the muddy look and frame drops more. There are some absolutely beautiful places in this game, like the space station the GroundBreaker, the luminescent Devil's Peak Caverns, and the massive bustling city of Byzantium, they would be even more awesome if they didn't cut my fps in half and send my gpu into an early retirement. There are so many things that should've been fixed with the Spacer's Choice edition, I mean they added an insane level cap of 99 that will be impossible to even get halfway to because that much xp does not exist outside of farming enemies for xp scraps. but adding that is much more important than fixing bugs like quest options not working for anyone still or being locked in your inventory screen because there were too many enemies leaping around when you needed a bottle of Purple Berry Juice. I also clipped through a few bridges in the game while spamming spacebar to go faster, which caused me more deaths than anything else in this game, so I guess look out for bridges. I wanted this to help feed my fallout addiction and give me another wacky sci-fi experience but all I did was put on a moon helmet, get addicted to drugs, and listen to the screams of my robot janitor committing genocide with acidic cleaner.
