I’m confused. I have a fun stocked up but they are wasting space. What are they used for? I look on wiki I can’t find anything. Please help. What are the spirits used for?

I have 3 friends i am trying to play with. No matter who is hosting whenever we try to connect to host it just goes to a black screen then kicks you back to menu. We all have the latest version as of 9/22/23. All have multiplayer enabled.

I was going to buy the game (With the other outpost one) but I always read the reviews before and this one is FILLED with reports of bugs and crashes. So... Is it still crashing the game? did they fixed it?

I've followed the directions, put everything on the stove, loaded the stove with wood, and the item will not cook. I've restarted the game, reloaded the game, I don't know what to do. I'd really like to get past the tutorial!
