1/10. Legitimately the worst experience I've ever had playing a video game.

Compared to other TES games, Arena does *very little* hand holding. I will HIGHLY recommend to search up the character creation and see what best fits for you. But I will say overall, Arena might've overtaken Daggerfall for me. Daggerfall has it's own issues which I did a review on, but Arena was much more enjoyable to me than Daggerfall was.

- This is as dungeon crawly as your going to get. Some people might not like dungeon crawlers, but I don't dislike them so I'm categorizing it as a "good".
- The combat and movement are pretty good for it's time. To keep it simple: get a weapon with the highest number and just attack! There's nothing much to it haha. Although Bows will have an infinite amount of ammo, good thing to keep in mind! You cannot move with WASD keys unless you play on modded, this wasn't a big deal for me and if it is... just install the mod for it.
- You can repair your armor yourself if you are the Knight class, otherwise you will need to speak to a blacksmith.
- The spells are really interesting, you can create your own spells and honestly for the very 1st TES game - they did an amazing job on the magic system. (although Magic is a little broken... in a good way)
- Dungeons are randomly generated (just like Daggerfall) they are segmented, meaning that yes they are "random" but you'll recognize some segments.
- There are Random Quests! idk I liked this feature, you could consider this a "bad" aspect of the game, but I thought it was interesting. They are randomized from pre-written blocks, meaning that the overall structure of the side quests are already predetermined, but how the game makes you go across the questline is randomized.
- I liked a lot of the puzzles they have in some dungeons. I wasn't expecting straight up prompts asking me riddles, but oddly enough it was refreshing. Made me use my brain a little haha!
- No harsh leveling curve in the end-game. I think this is a good thing because unlike Battlespire... the end game felt gradual and the enemies weren't 5x stronger than me.


- There was a magic spell that I got that would crash the game, no matter what. I'm a little nit-picky but I'd accidentally use it and my game would crash
- The ending was pretty anti-climactic. I personally didn't like the ending but I guess I have to give them some slack as it was the first installment of Elder Scrolls.
- A lot of the tiny bits of lore sprinkled throughout the quest lines felt very "worthless". They'd mention something and it'd have little significance or they glaze right over it.
- MAGIC IS OVERPOWERED. It's so OP that I wouldn't even recommend using any other combat styles. Now obviously you'd need to because you're not going to have an infinite amount of Mana... but regardless it is OP and the combat triangle is NOT balanced at all.
- Movement is just as clunky as Daggerfall. Yes I know I put movement along with the "good" aspects of the game, but to some it can be clunky. It felt just as clunky as it was in Daggerfall.
- You can theoretically manually travel between different locations... although it is 100% NOT worth it. The official manual for Arena states that it can take up to 10-12 hours of REAL TIME of travelling between 1 town to another. Basically Fast Travel is necessary.
