Stray Souls, developed by Jukai Studio and published by Versus Evil, is now available on PlayStation 4|5, and Xbox Series S|X for $29.99!

PC players will be able to purchase the Stray Souls: Cult Classic Edition for $39.99, which includes the official soundtrack and Sacred Tome artbook. Please note, both of these items can be purchased separately – but there will be no physical edition.

The soundtrack features legendary guest composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) and veteran indie composer Pete Wicher. The Stray Souls OST contains a total of 60 tracks and over 3 hours of music, including exclusive bonus tracks not featured in the game.

The Sacred Tome is an unholy compendium that includes a gorgeous collection of gothic watercolor illustrations from the vault of artist Phil Worobey, plus a complete digital lore library encompassing all the discoverable notes, letters, and various documentation found throughout the game.

A Brief Dive into the Five Founding Families:

Let’s journey back to 1883 when the quaint town of Aspen Falls was first planted on the map. Five powerful founding families played a central role in shaping the town, their connection to the Society of Unified Silence ensuring their legacy and responsibilities for generations to come.

The Fillmore Family – Tending to Agriculture:
Meet the Fillmores, the backbone of Aspen Falls. These folks had one vital task – growing stuff. Their passion for farming went beyond a mere livelihood; they considered it a sacred duty. Deeply rooted in the earth, the Fillmores nurtured the town with their bountiful harvests. But despite their crucial role, the Fillmores were one rung from the bottom of the town’s spiritual ladder.

The Mason Family – Infrastructure Maintenance:
The Masons, the unsung heroes of town infrastructure. These masters of construction and maintenance kept Aspen Falls humming along seamlessly. Their skilled craftsmanship ensured roads, buildings, and utilities all ran smoothly. Despite their vital role, the Masons were perceived as the lowest echelon when it came to the town’s deeper spiritual agenda.

The Gillespie Family – Town Security:
Security was the Gillespies’ game. They shielded Aspen Falls from prying eyes and external threats. Through covert surveillance, quiet investigations, and an underground informant network, they maintained order and secrecy. The Gillespies were like the middle children of Aspen Falls, respected yet often sent to the front lines, believing that following the rules was the only way to operate.

The Levitt Family – Financial Stewardship:
Meet the Levitts, the financial gurus. They managed the town’s finances with impeccable precision. Their adept financial stewardship kept the Inner Circle’s coffers full without drawing attention. However, their wealth didn’t translate to power as they bent their knees to the Davidson family’s rule.

The Davidson Family – Spiritual Matters & Lineage:
The Davidsons held the crown when it came to spirituality. They guided the town’s spiritual affairs, orchestrating rituals and teachings aligned with the sect’s dark beliefs. The Davidsons held the key to fulfilling the prophecy of the “Destroyer,” which was central to the Inner Circle’s faith. They were the true power behind Aspen Falls, occupying key positions in the town council and the sect’s leadership.

For generations, these five families passed down their knowledge and responsibilities, united by their allegiance to the Society of Unified Silence. Together, they maneuvered Aspen Falls as the hidden hands directing the town’s fate while concealing the true nature of this seemingly ordinary Midwest community.

Their secrets, rituals, and the presence of the Inner Circle left an indelible mark on Aspen Falls, weaving an intricate web of ignorance and secrecy among the townsfolk. A Brief History of Aspen Falls:

Aspen Falls was a bustling Midwestern farming town back in the late 20th century, its fields yielding bountiful harvests that sustained both the locals and the wider trade networks. On the surface, it appeared to be the quintessential, devout American community, deeply rooted in Judeo-Christian values.

However, behind this facade, most of the townsfolk practiced a faith that deviated significantly from mainstream Christianity. Rumored whispers of rituals and occult-like practices had long been associated with Aspen Falls. These tales included mysterious cattle mutilations, UFO sightings, and an unsettlingly high rate of missing persons, particularly children, which gave the town a rather sinister reputation.

One of the unique aspects setting Aspen Falls apart from its neighbors was its location atop what they believed to be Ley Lines. These are considered mystical energy pathways that crisscross the Earth. The convergence of these Ley Lines beneath the town was believed to imbue the land with an otherworldly energy.

Another oddity was the presence of a massive deposit of quartz at the heart of this convergence. The quartz seemed deliberately placed there, as it was noticeably absent from the surrounding soil. The Inner Circle, the secret society within the town, believed that this deposit acted as a reservoir for spiritual energy, drawing from the metaphysical currents coursing through the Ley Lines.

This is where it got sinister…

The Inner Circle harnessed these forces for their esoteric practices. Their rituals were conducted at secret locations throughout the town, allowing them to tap into this unique energy and channel it for their mysterious purposes. The quartz deposit acted as a conductor, intensifying the spiritual energy and heightening their connection to what they believed were otherworldly realms.

Now, the common townsfolk were mostly oblivious to this. They merely sensed an eerie presence, a strange vibe in the air when they ventured near the town. This inexplicable aura fostered a shared sense of secrecy and further reinforced the town’s isolation.

Hidden behind the facade of a regular farming town, the Inner Circle conducted rituals, ancient rites, and esoteric practices, all aimed at strengthening their connection to the dark forces they worshiped. The gatherings took place in seemingly ordinary locations, like barns, cellars, or abandoned houses. This careful concealment meant that the community at large remained in the dark about these activities.

Over time, the Inner Circle’s influence began to seep into the town’s culture and traditions. Symbols and iconography associated with their unconventional faith adorned secret meeting places and hidden chambers throughout Aspen Falls. They even blended their strange practices into everyday life, weaving their occult ceremonies into the town’s festivals and activities, further camouflaging their secret rituals.

The town’s unsuspecting residents carried on, believing that the strange occurrences and peculiar “Council Meetings” held in the oddest of places were merely a part of the town’s unique design. While they went about their daily lives, they were completely unaware that Aspen Falls was ground zero for a cosmic battle between light and darkness. But to the casual observer, it was just another unassuming American town.

The wind’s whistling through the cracks in this old cabin, kind of eerie but strangely comforting. I’ve been hanging out here in the Rocky Mountains, pretty cut off from people. Instead of human interaction, I’ve got the soothing sounds of nature. It’s weird, right? I’m way out in the boonies, but still hooked up to the digital world through my gadgets.

Every now and then, the memories of Aspen Falls creep into my thoughts. They’re like ghostly echoes, fading in and out. Sometimes, their whispers break the silence, and it gives me the creeps. On some nights, I’ll gaze up at the starry sky, haunted by the memory of that poor kid, and the dark truth about the Inner Circle’s sinister doings.

In those moments, I can’t help but revisit that fateful night when I made a run for it, leaving behind the only life I’d ever known. It was a desperate move, driven by the horror of watching my own body do terrible things under some external control.

So, I’ll keep jotting down my memories of Aspen Falls. It’s my way of honoring those who didn’t make it, the innocent folks who were caught up in the Inner Circle’s messed-up beliefs. Their stories weigh heavy on me, but I’ll bear that burden for the sake of truth.

A Concise Account of The Inner Circle:

Back in the early 20th century, the Society of Unified Silence popped up right in the American heartland. They were a mysterious bunch, not following the mainstream Christian teachings. See, they had this peculiar belief that God was both the Creator and the Destroyer, not just some merciful being.

As time rolled on, a split happened within the Society, leading to the Inner Circle’s formation. Around the mid-1920s, this splinter group got fixated on the darker side of their faith, all about praising the destructive nature of God. They saw suffering and chaos as God’s purposeful acts, a way to teach humanity some profound lesson.

Only the most dedicated members of the Inner Circle knew about an ancient prophecy that was the bedrock of their beliefs. Fueled by their faith and a desire to fulfill God’s plan, they decided to lay low. They ended up in the hidden corners of central Michigan, creating the town of Aspen Falls, where they could practice their beliefs in peace.

They figured that their beliefs wouldn’t fly with the mainstream religions of their time, so they played it smart. They made Aspen Falls look like your typical farming community to avoid suspicion. This act allowed them to grow and gain control over the town without anyone knowing what was up.

Within the Inner Circle, they believed they were paving the way for a “Savior.” But here’s the kicker – mainstream religion folks would see this “Savior” as the Destroyer. According to the sect’s more extreme texts, this special kid needed a very particular bloodline. That lineage was supposedly the only one that could contain the will of God the Destroyer, aka “Darkness.” Apparently, only a specific young man, who reached 18 and had a life filled with hardship, could do this job and reshape the world.

One of Aspen Falls’ five founding families was the chosen bloodline, and their descendants always held influential positions in the community. These family members controlled important town matters and spiritual affairs.

Here’s where it gets wild: the Inner Circle came up with a plan to make multiple potential vessels. Their methods were brutal, no doubt, but oddly organized. The trauma had a pattern, and if you looked closely, you could see it plain as day…
