Great RTS. I typically play Skirmish whick is always fun. Not a lot of moving anything forward but I still have a good time with it.

Under £12 for a key well it was well worth it but no way would i have paid the full price of £50 for it,,I have for sure have my monies worth after 25 hours and will continue on getting my monies worth :).

If at first you don't succeed, apply more greed.

Company of Heroes is a game series I dedicated over 1000 hours. My childhood was me playing Company of Heroes Valor spamming infantry and arty on the same 5 maps ad infinitum....

When it comes to Company of Heroes 3 its in a weird limbo of identity. It doesn't resemble the previous instalment, it tries to make its own identity in the existing formula. The factions are the same, the Germans are Armored focus, the Brits are artillery heavy and so on. The battlegroup system is still here with its own selection of twists.

There are some genuinely decent improvements to the series here, but also some questionable choices.

The Negative is that the campaign this time around is a colossal waste of time. Gone are the setpiece animated video intros into every mission, in return a Total War approach is offered. Something that doesn't fit the series. There are simply too few maps for this to be an enjoyable process. It's fighting on the same maps against an AI with a roguelike twist. Total war maps aren't its key aspect, it relies on the units present, politics, and town building in order for all of it to function coherently. That is something Company of Heroes doesn't support.

The second issue is the egregious monetization that they have in place. There is a cosmetic store in a 60$ game, for which earning anything for free is a herculean task. The store also contains additional battlegroups, which they inherited from the second game. You can gain current playing weekly and daily missions, but to get one singular battle group you need at least 2 months of somewhat regular play, or cough up 15$ for 2 battlegroups which is a ridiculous price.


The positive aspect of this game is an improved combat and movement system. Armoured vehicles now have an armour layout which further rewards the flanking tactic commonly utilized in games and real life. The infantry received a movement overhaul, units can now automatically cross obstacles and get to the target point more quickly, they also have visible health indicators for each model, and a more intuitive HP system overall.

Multiplayer is entertaining, lobby search system with an ELO system is an improvement compared to the previous game. Players are mostly fairly matched up which leads to intense games. Sometimes there will be a disbalance as in a 1300 ELO player playing with a 1000 ELO player against two 1150 ELO players but this are not that common.

This is a very divisive game. It's one of those games where I am not sure should I give a positive review. It lands smack dab in the middle of both. The rate of the updates is slow as well, this being caused by external issues where Relic has parted ways with Sega after it cut its development team. The game seems to have a dedicated albeit slow dev team but at the same time, the game could be shut down tomorrow without a warning if Relic files for bankruptcy. If you are a dedicated Company of Heroes player, I would suggest giving it a go, at a more reasonable price of ≈ 30$. Same would apply to somebody who is not familiar with the series, with the warning that single-player is only for the most casual of audiences and multiplayer requires a certain skill set.

Ultimately I will give this game a Positive review as my love for the series outgrows this games mediocrity.

Feel like its more like an updated version of COH1. like the style of COH2 more. Vehicle scale is weir, maybe I played too much COH2.

CoH3 is must have in CoH lovers collections i miss old BOX versions.

As a long-time fan of the first and second Company of Heroes games, I feel compelled to write a review. Compared to its predecessors, Company of Heroes 3 is in an incredibly poor state. The so-called quality of life improvements are insignificant in the face of the game's overall poor condition. The explosion effects are unbelievably bad, shockingly so. Considering the effects in the first game and the year it was released, there has been a catastrophic decline. As a player, I still can't believe that they couldn't even come close to the quality of the first game, let alone match it. The tanks look like toys. The sense of heft and power that the tanks had in the first game is completely absent. The units, nations, and buildings fail to convey any sense of historical authenticity. The unit dialogues are incredibly irritating; in short, the voice acting is terrible. You can easily understand why people are returning to the second game just by playing a bit of the third one. Yes, there are a few nice new features, but the atmosphere of the game is so off-putting and so far removed from the spirit of the first game that you can't even be sure if it's a Company of Heroes game or something else entirely. For me, it was a huge disappointment. I do not recommend it to anyone. Company of Heroes 1 is dead, and the player count for Company of Heroes 2 is above three. Keep playing Company of Heroes 2.
