I played the tits off this game. It's a good game. Make another one.

If this game was just the RPG/combat side of the game, it would be an easy 9 or 10. Unfortunately, the developers decided to add ridiculous platforming elements EVERYWHERE in the game. This game markets itself as an exploration JRPG with inspirations from games like FF5... yet half of the game is bloody Mario but badly designed.

You have ONE viewing angle, that you can "tilt" (it's worthless to tilt) and there are so many objects that prevent you from seeing anything on the screen. So often, where you need to jump or go is hidden by something on the screen, nonsensically. Like entire corners of buildings. Many jumps are precise and require tile-wide accuracy... while your jumps are only about 2 tiles horizontal and vertical. The tiles are designed to where two disconnected tiles may seem like they're on the same row but it'll be off one tile (so you fall). Or the way to get up is by going so far out of your way that it takes dozens of minutes of wandering to figure out the convoluted, cryptic nonsense route the devs intended. Which is compounded by this community's ridiculously autistic refusal to give any actual spoilers. Their "spoilers" are as cryptic and useless as the game's directions. Half of the time, the way to progress is to go BACKWARDS.

Oh no random battles? That's fine, you get something even worse. Enemy wisps you can "avoid" but are faster than you and extremely accurate. That's fine because you can dodge them in open fields..... oh wait, now there's enemies ALL OVER the platforming areas? Which is most of the game? Yeah. Worse than random battles, it interrupts an already frustrating experience, breaking your flow. With random battles, you can blame the system, with this - it's your fault. That's the psychological effect in the end. Even worse because the game is difficult, which is great... except when you die, you have to restart the platforming ALL OVER again. Which may take 10 to 20 minutes. Every. Time.

This game could have been amazing if they simply didn't try to force bad Mario into it.

really great turn based JRPG. not a lot of story to go through, but really solid fundamentals and a great job system

I dont think ive ever left a review for a game before on here so this is a first. But this game is truly amazing. if you're looking for something to sink a lot of hours into, and you like final fantasy/job system-games, this is the one. I personally didn't find this to be an issue, but be warned there is little to no story or lore.

This game is exactly what it looks like on the tin: a massive Final Fantasy-like made by a huge Final Fantasy fan. If you look at the store page and think you will love it, you will DEFINITELY love it.

My only hangup going in to the game was the platforming advertised, but it's surprisingly functional and engaging. Really serves the exploration aspect of the game.
