Unironically the best wrestling game out there. The game is derpy as hell, but it really captures the spirit of older awesome wrestling games like No Mercy on the N64, where there was a type of unscripted openess to it, like you could slam someone onto a bed of chairs and it actually mattered and felt violent. But besides that, there is just so much stuff it does right, like the impact of the wrestling and the speed of which the wrestlers perform which makes it feel more authentic. When someone gets really slammed it can take them time to get back up, giving loads of time for theatrics just like actual wrestling. But best of all, the game does something better than any other; when you are not wrestling you are living the life of character behind the scenes, with all the drama that can encompass. This can lead to real life rivalries or friendships on and off the stage, where it all blurs the lines as to what is real and not. There's an absolute ton of freedom and customization too.

This is actually a really fun game. Graphics are pants and the movement isn't great but it is a lot of fun. Played it way more than WWE 24!
If it's cheap and you like wrestling games - I thoroughly recommend it.

Wrestling Empire is a strong contender for my favourite wrestling game of all time. It might not be to everyone's taste, but if you like the sound of a wrestling game that allows you to use explosives on your opponents, run them down with a motorcycle, throw them into an oncoming subway train or slam them into a toilet, you'll probably get a kick out of it.

That's far from all the game has to offer, of course. There are two career modes available. One allows you to book matches for a promotion and raise the company's profile by drawing increasingly huge crowds at tapings. You can play the matches you book and switch between the referee and competitors throughout the match to have control over the match outcome. Every region has its preferences, and it's up to you to give them what they want in exchange for a 5-star rating. You'll also be in charge of handling superstar contracts and gimmicks.

The other career mode lets you take control of a chosen superstar and rise through the ranks. You control your superstar in and out of matches and can end up in a brawl at any moment. You can develop friendships and rivalries with the other superstars. You can increase your superstar's strength, agility, etc., by training at the gym and can heal damage by eating and drinking. Superstars can get injured in both career modes and in some cases actually die. The game's huge roster includes many parodies of real wrestlers. Phil Graves = The Undertaker, Sam Mower = Rikishi, Essa Carrera = Eddie Guerrero, Frank Incensed = Scott Steiner, etc.

If you like having good customisation options in your wrestling games, there's a lot to love here. You can overwrite any superstar with your own creation like you could in WWF No Mercy on the N64. You can create your own match rules, flood the arena with water, select the weapons and furniture that will appear in the match, create rivalries and more. There's plenty to explore here. This game isn't trying to be a realistic simulation in the same way the official WWE 2K games are. If you want women and men competing in the same match type that includes explosives and barbed wire, Wrestling Empire will allow you to have that match.

Obviously, you don't get official WWE music in this game but the soundtrack is pretty good for what it is. I consider the gameplay pretty accessible. There's a free demo so you can try the core gameplay out for yourself and decide if it's for you.

I say the full game is worth the price.
