Finally after 2 years it's out of early access.
And i must say it does NOT dissapoint!
The new BRUTAL mode is real fun, it even adds new mechanic or moveset to the v bloods (bosses) making them more challenging, way more than i remember when i beat the game years ago.
Granted the balancing seems off, some i can beat while much lower level, but some is real PITA even when i am on same level/ beyond the boss itself... but i'm really having FUN!!
And going blind to a boss fight not knowing if it's on the cakewalk side or the painstaking side is fun in itself!

Since time immemorial, people have written, told tales, and dreamed of these iconic creatures of the night: vampires. Both dramatized as perfect and immortal beings, as well as cruel and merciless bloodthirsty monsters. Some of them even got to sparkle, but we'd better not touch that subject. V Rising invites us on an adventure that puts the crimson bloodline front and center, with mechanics that revolve around the nosferatu as well as crafting, exploration, and an equipment based leveling system, creating a very well thought out balance that makes the game stand out in all aspects.

The story begins with our awakening. We'll rise from the coffin after years of slumber, weakened by inactivity and stripped of our unholy powers. Our main objective will be to regain our former strength, seeking blood by night and escaping the sun by day. It will be crucial to lay the foundations of a settlement, to eventually erect a castle and reign. Our era has arrived.

The plot of V Rising itself is rather a background that serves as a basis for our adventures, since it is a very open game in terms of deciding our path, and we'll be the ones to forge the journey. This is not to say that we'll simply be released into the world to our fate, as we'll have two types of progression paths to guide us along the way. There's a lot to unpack from here on out, so I'll go in parts and try to be brief, but I will warn you that V Rising has a lot to offer.

On the one hand, straightforward and typical missions of the survival genre, such as going and getting wood to create our first coffin, hunting wild creatures to make us clothes with their skins, gathering stones to erect our castle walls, and so on. As we complete these objectives, we'll be given rewards in the form of new construction plans, and the complexity of the tasks will also increase.

To complete these missions, we'll navigate a huge map full of points of interest, enemy camps, different areas and resources galore. When venturing through these lands we'll have to be careful of certain elements in the gameplay, such as the sun, because while we have powerful vampiric abilities, we'll also have to deal with its disadvantages. Garlic inflicts a 'debuff', silver burns us, among other things, and I admit that I love the implementation of these aspects.

With the missions as a guide, we can also get a little bit into the construction aspect. We can establish bases in certain locations of the territory, placing a Castle Heart, and thus have a refuge where to rest and plan machiavellian things. This section of the game gives free rein to the user's creativity, allowing us to create a base to our heart’s whims, with tons of decorations and several floors if necessary. Beautiful! The good thing is that if we don't like where we started, we can change location as soon as we unlock a relevant upgrade, without losing a single wall of our fortress in the process.

Hand in hand with the construction comes the crafting, and we'll have different facilities that will serve us to create and upgrade objects and weapons. From workbenches to advanced refineries, alchemy laboratories and graves where we can attract undead and 'farm' their bones. It is an extremely complete system. It should be noted that many of the objects that we manufacture will have a manufacturing time, and sometimes it can create a "dead point" in the gameplay, but that's only if we stick to waiting at home until everything is done, since we can always go exploring to pass the time.

On the other side we have the trail of essences. The world is full of entities that have the V variant in their veins, which is a very special blood that when consumed will grant us new abilities. We'll be able to track these characters, pretty much bosses, and defeat them in order to quench our thirst for power with them. This section sometimes intersects with the missions, since they will not only give us that precious V blood, but sometimes also some schematics that may be required by the main objectives.

And what about the bosses? Well, they’re great, of course, but to address this point I think it's best we start by talking about level progression. In V Rising you don't level up in a conventional way, but rather our strength is tied to our equipment. That is, our strength is the sum of our equipment’s level, from the weapon we have in our hand to our very boots. Perhaps it is a bit strange at first, but it becomes very intuitive easily.

We'll have a wide variety of weapons, from the classic one-handed sword to dual pistols, and we'll also have at our disposal several powers from different schools of magic, such as blood or ice, which we'll get as we face the bosses. The character customization is awesome, and lets the user choose what things to focus on.

The V blood carriers can be very challenging or even easy depending on our overall level, and the power level of the boss in question. Players looking for big challenges can try to go several levels lower than recommended to the showdown, but I really wouldn’t recommend it to mortals like me. For example, I ran into the famed Simon Belmont, and he was so many levels ahead of me that I was totally traumatized. This is also something that I really liked, and that is that some bosses are not limited to being in their camp, but prowl around several areas looking to pick a fight. Boy did I suffer Tristan the Vampire Hunter in the starting area, phew.

I found the wide variety of systems to be very interesting, and the fact that you can keep yourself busy thanks to the several objectives to follow, meaning you will rarely get stuck on something in particular. Another mechanic revolves around consuming the blood of "normal" enemies, and each one has its own blood type, such as warrior or worker. They give different passive bonuses depending on the quality of that blood, and we can also eventually dominate human minds and get followers, or simply imprison them to have a supply of crimson drinks at hand. As you can see, V Rising has many remarkable peculiarities, there are several mechanics and so much content that I simply can’t address it all here. There are world events, co-op, and player vs player with even siege elements; it's amazing, and I think a lot of this content is best enjoyed when you discover it yourself.

It's a game that surprised and captivated me instantly. The audiovisual aspect is beautiful, it has immaculate animations, and I even expected to have to lower some graphics due to my GPU, but the truth is that it runs wonderfully. The music, the atmosphere, the large amount of content, and of course, a cooperative aspect that can integrate up to forty players; V Rising has a bit of everything. A bloodthirsty adventure in which any gamer, whether they like the survival genre or not, will find a reason to stay. I recommend it and hope you also get immersed into this fascinating and dark world.

A great combination of RPG and Hack'n'Slash with the addition of building.
Interesting mechanics, enjoyable building, challenging boss fights,
many activities that will absorb you for hours.
Exploration is encouraged. I never sucked soo good
so I recommend it I play with pleasure.
